Board of elections meetings
The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.
Night to Remember
The first Night to Remember will be held Tues., Jan. 20, 7 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church. If you have had a loved one pass and want to attend an uplifting evening for remembrance, mark your calendars. Refreshments will be served. If you would like a luminary placed for your loved one, please call the New Hope Baptist Church office at 706-359- 4580 and allow us the pleasure to provide one for you at no cost.
Dinner at Post 194
Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.
NWTF banquet
The National Wild Turkey Federation's 6th Annual Banquet will be held on Fri., Jan. 9, 2009 at the American Legion Post 194. Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7:30. Seating is limited. For tickets contact Michael Wengrow at Goldman & Wengrow or Brett Carani - 359-1394.
Society to meet The Lincoln County Historical Society will be meeting at 6 p.m. on Jan. 15th at the May House for a covered dish meal. Please bring your favorite dish and join us for a wonderful time of fellowship. The meat will be provided.
Bingo is Friday
Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo. For more information, contact (706) 359-3445.
TIA/NAACP to meet
The first monthly meeting of TIA/ NAACP will be held at Newberry Baptist Church Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m. Please try to attend.
CCLC meets Jan. 15
The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County is gearing up for the new year. They will hold their monthly meeting Thurs., Jan. 15, 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Library. Guest speaker will be U.S. Corps of Engineers, Jay Wideman. Everyone is welcome.

SALS to meet
The Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 194 will meet at 7:30 p.m. on January 13 at the Post Home. All members are asked to please attend.
Missionary service
The Missionary Ministry of Harmony Baptist Church will be hosting their 3rd Annual Missionary Service on Sun., Feb. 8 at 3 p.m. Rev. Alvin Rivers and St. Luke Baptist Church in Lincolnton will be in charge of the service. All are welcome. Come out and be blessed! Rev. Freddie Neal, Sr. is pastor.
Installation service
Tabernacle Baptist Church cordially invites the community to attend the Pastor Installation Service of Rev. Ray C. Lewis, on Sun., Feb. 1, 2009 at 3 p.m. Rev. Jesse W. Johnson and Rehoboth Baptist Church family of Appling, Ga. will be in charge of the services.
LWREA to meet The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will meet at 11 a.m. on Thurs., Jan. 8 at the Mary Willis Library in Washington. All retired educators are invited to attend.
Auxiliary meets Jan. 8
The American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 194 will meet Thurs., Jan. 8, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. Please remember to bring your food pantry items.
Deacon's anniv.
Mt. Zion Baptist Church will be celebrating its deacon's anniversary Sun., Jan. 11 at 2 p.m. Everyone is welcome to come and help us celebrate this great program. Rev. Robert Crawford is pastor.
Tuesday prayer True Fellowship invites everyone to prayer each Tuesday 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Bishop James Ware is pastor.
Flu vaccine avail
Flu vaccine is now available at the Lincoln County Health Dept. Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The charge is $25 cash, Medicare Part B or Medicaid. If you will be using your Medicare or Medicaid card for your method of payment and you have a primary insurance plan, please be prepared to present both cards.
Living with diabetes
The public is invited to a free educational series "Living with Diabetes" sponsored by Wills Memorial Hospital, in the WMH Nash Library Jan. 22 from 5 - 7 p.m.

The Lincoln Young Miss Pageant will be held on January 29th, 2009 at 7pm in the LCHS auditorium.
Girls in grades K-5 and living in LC, attending school in LC, or have parents working in LC are eligible.
The entry fee is $30 and due to FBLA by January 16th. Forms will be sent to the Elementary School in December and will be available in the school offices.

Tutoring available
Peer tutoring is available after school on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. Interested students should contact Regina Reed at 706-359-3121. Teachers are also available before and after school to assist students in different academic subjects.
Power wheelchairs
The Senior Wheels USA Program makes available power wheelchairs to senior citizens and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify.
The power wheelchairs are provided to those who can no longer walk safely, nor self-propel a manual wheelchair, and who meet the additional guidelines of the program.

GED/Adult classes
Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon. and Tues., 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Thursday: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.
Mr. LCMS contest
The annual Mr. LCMS Contest, sponsored by the LCMS Student Council, will be held on Monday, February 2. The contest is open to all boys who attend Lincoln County Middle School. Entry fee is $30. Entry deadline is Fri., Jan. 16. Applications may be picked up in the middle school office or from Mrs. Christie Bryan.
