Too fast for conditions
Gregory Boschert, 43, of Aiken, South Carolina, was cited with failure to regulate speed after his boat ran up on a shoal about one mile upstream from the mouth of Soap Creek at the Savannah River. The incident occurred following the Thunder Over Thurmond fireworks display on Saturday, July 5. According to Corporal Ryan Swain with the DNR, factors contributing to the incident were the darkness; Boschert was in unfamiliar waters; and he was driving too fast for the high volume of traffic on the lake. Swain added, "With the low lake levels, I urge folks not to be out there at all if they can help it - it's that dangerous." No one was injured in the incident.
