Martin's Crossroads VFD will send out membership notices

Residents of the Double Branches Community should take note that membership notices for the Martin's Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department are being mailed out this week.

Renewal notices were not sent out last December because the VFD decided to change its bookkeeping system from a calendar year to a fiscal year, which will run from July 1, 2008, to June 30, 2009.

"We did this so people wouldn't have to worry about their membership fees at Christmas time, when presents need to be bought and taxes have to be paid," said Mike Reese, fire department president.

He went on to add that those property owners, who paid their membership fees between January 1, 2008, and June 30, 2008, will be covered through June of 2009.
