Board of elections meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Dinner served

Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.

Pageant at Ebenezer

The Ebenezer Baptist Church Gospel Choir is sponsoring a Little Mr. and Mrs. Pageant on July 13, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church for ages two through five. There will be a prize for first, second, and third place for the child that turns in the most money.

Class of 98 reunion

Consignors wanted

Lincolnton United Methodist Church is seeking consignors for its first annual Fall Kids Pass it On Consignment Sale to be held at the church on September 5th - 6th. Consignors receive 60% of the amount sold while the church receives 40% to go back into local missions.

Items to be consigned are children's clothes (newborn to size 20), children's shoes, maternity clothes, strollers, toys, books, etc.

If you are interested in being a consignor, call the church office at (706) 359-4339, Amberly Bentley at (706) 359-4242, or Ginger Dawkins at (706) 359-6968 for more details. The church will have consignor packets available with detailed information to those who sign up. Deadline for signing up will be August 29, 2008.

Pastor appreciation

Pleasant Grove Church celebrate its Pastor Appreciation the second Sunday in July (July 13, 2008) at 2 p.m. Rev. Seymore Harrison and White Rock Baptist Church are in charge.

All churches are invited. Rev. Walter Clayton, Pastor.

Info. needed

Archivists are seeking officers, enlisted men, WACs, cadets, britons, civilians and/or their families and friends who are stationed at Cochran Field, or lived in Macon, Georgia during WWII, who would be willing to contribute artifacts, photos, articles, and stories pertaining to their experience with the men and women working there.

Looking for recipes

The Lincoln County Historical Society is in the process of compiling a cookbook that will showcase all of the wonderful recipes that Lincoln County people love to prepare. We want this cookbook to not only include recipes but the history of Lincoln County as well.

If you have any historical facts or human interest stories that reflect the history of Lincolnton, please submit them to us by July 10th along with your favorite recipes. Submit as many as you like and make sure you put your name on each entry. You may send your stories or recipes to the Lincoln County Historical Society at P.O. Box 869 or place them in a drop box that will be located on the front porch at the May House until July 10th.

We want this cookbook to be one of your favorites as well as your very own reference on some of the history of Lincoln County. Your participation with this is greatly appreciated.

Debate Booster Club looking for donations

Lincoln County High School students T.J. Carani, Amy Dandron, Sara Herring, Abigail Minor, and Nicklas Spens qualified for the National Speech Tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada, held June 16-20.

Expenses are greater this year because of the number of qualifiers and the tournament location: airline tickets, lodging for five students, as well as the required adult judges to support the tournament.

The Lincoln County Debate Boosters Club is accepting donations to offset tournament expenses. Please send checks or money orders made payable to Lincoln County Debate Boosters Club to: Stephanie Carani, 3286 Tankersley Rd, Lincolnton. Your donation is tax deductible.

Christian women's luncheon to be held at Tara CC July 9

Dolls on Parade is the theme of the next Savannah River Christian Women's Connection luncheon on Wednesday, July 9th at Tara Country Club.

Bring your favorite doll with you so you can share wonderful memory stories around your tables. Bonnie Capps of Dollie Darling Doll Repair and Trousseaux will give valuable information on caring for and repairing our beloved and treasured dolls.

Susan Smith will share her inspirational faith story about growing up without a sense of belonging, self worth, or competence as a child and how all that eventually changed in her life.

TIA Helping Hand

The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/ 50.

Planning meetings

The Lincoln County Planning Commission will hold all its regularly scheduled meetings in the Planning and Zoning Conference Room located at 107 Perryman Avenue unless otherwise advertised. The meeting dates are:; July 7; Aug. 11; Sept. 8; Oct. 6; Nov. 10; Dec. 8.

Fund set up

A special bank account has been set up at Farmers State Bank to benefit Lou McKellar and her daughter, Kelli, whose house burned during a recent move. Insurance had not yet been transferred to the new house, and smoke damage was extensive. Donations may be mailed to: Farmers State Bank, P.O. Box 99, Lincolnton, GA 30817.

GED/Adult classes

Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Wed., from 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.

Church anniversary

Parks Grove FBH Church will be celebrating its 97th church anniversary on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at 3 p.m. Pastor Anthony Brown of Gainesville, Ga. will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited. Rev. Tonita Cody is pastor.

Fund set up

A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to aid the Beggs family.

The funds collected will help defray medical expenses associated with the cancer treatment and meet the needs of the Beggs family.

Contributions to the Beggs Fund may be made at the bank during regular business hours or by using the night depository. Donations may also be mailed to the bank at P.O. Box 99, Lincolnton, Georgia, 30817. Please remember to write " Lyndsie Beggs Fund" on the envelope.

Bingo is Friday

Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo. For more information, contact (706) 359-3445.

Scrabble Club meets

The Scrabble Club will meet Sunday afternoon, July 6, from 2 to 5 p.m at the Dova Partridge Annex at the library. Players from 12 years of age on up are invited to come enjoy an afternoon of Scrabble. Please bring your Scrabble board in case we don't have enough. Munchies will be provided by FOL.
