Hawes Clary

HAWES CLARY
Hawes Clary of Thomson entered into rest on June 13, 2008 in Atlanta, Ga.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, June 22nd at 2p.m. at Westview Cemetery.

Mr. Clary, native of Thomson, and son of the late Horace E. and former Ava Hawes of Lincoln County, was a 1963 graduate of the University of Georgia, and had served in the Georgia National Guard during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

He moved to Atlanta, where he began his business career in life insurance with Continental Assurance Corp. He worked for many years with American Agency Life Insurance Co. with stints with his own agencies. After selling his last company, he returned to his hometown where he pursued a love for antiquities while consulting for the law firm of Dallas & Medlin.

Mr. Clary was preceded in death by his parents, Horace E. and Ava Hawes Clary, and half-brothers, Lt. Col. Horace E. Clary, Jr. and Capt. Forrest Thurston Clary.

He is survived by his children, Charles Walker Clary of Atlanta, and Lindsay Deane Clary of Philadelphia, Pa; his sister, Joan Pridgen and her husband, Howard of Waycross; nieces and nephews: Cynthia Kinnon of Waycross, Howard Pridgen of Cochran, Ann Seely of Acworth, and Jane P. Hersey of Waycross.
