VBS at Morningside

Morningside Baptist Church is calling all kids, ages 3 to 12 to join us at Outriggers Island June 23-27 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Pre-registration will be June 23 at 6 p.m.Hop on the surf board and learn the truth of God's word. Class of 98 reunion

Family reunion

The Lang-Cantelou family reunion is set for Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 12:00 noon. It will be held at the Lincoln County Historical Park, Lewis Family Pavilion. Bring your family, news, a picnic lunch and good cheer! Drinks, plates and utensils will be provided.

Meet the candidates

The Lincoln County Republican Party is having a meet the candidates forum at the Lincolnton Clubhouse at 7 pm on June 23.

Come by and meet Wade Johnson - Commission Chairman candidate, Gerald Lawson - Sheriff incumbent, Rob Robinson - Commissioner District 4 candidate and Joe Banks - Probate Judge candidate.

Attending will be Brett McGuire and Lee Anderson who are running for the GA House District 117 seat. Paul Broun and Barry Fleming will also be represented. This important District 117 election will also be on the July 15 primary ballot.

Attendees are urged to read the three Republican primary ballot questions on taxes and ask the candidates their opinions on these important matters. These poll questions are published at www.lincoln county republican party.com or put Lincoln County Republican Party in your search engine.

LCES registration

Registration for new students will be held Tuesday, July 22, 2008 from 9 a.m. to 11a.m. at Lincoln County Elementary School.

A birth certificate, health, and immunization certificate (if available at this time) and the child's social security number will be requested on this day.

Students who attended the school system's four-year old pre-school and students who have already registered do not have to register. They will need to follow up on the three certificate requirements by August 8, 2008.

Farewell brunch

A farewell service/brunch for Rev. DaNang A. Rockett and family will be Sunday, June 29, during the 9 a.m. morning worship service. The Tabernacle Baptist Church family invites you to come and show expressions of love and best wishes for the five years of Christian and spiritual services that he has fulfilled for Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Trio to perform

The Dewain French Trio of Grovetown, Ga. will be performing at St. Paul United Methodist Church at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 29. A love offering will be taken. St. Paul is located on Hwy. 43 in Lincolnton.

Play cancelled

The Washington Little Theater regretfully announces that the summer production, Mary-Mary, has been cancelled due to unforeseen difficulties. The theater's next production will be Cat on a Hot Time Roof, scheduled for this fall.

Council meeting

The School Council for Lincoln County High School will meet Thursday June 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the media center. Any interested parents should plan to attend.

Auxiliary to meet

The Ladies Auxiliary Unit 194 will have their monthly meeting Thursday, June 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post 194. All members are encouraged to attend and new members are welcome. Please remember to bring the following items for the Food Pantry: canned tomatoes and vegetables.

Dinner served

Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.

Board of elections meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Grandkids Day

Grandkids Day at the Lincoln County Historical Park will be June 18 at 11 am. A hot dog lunch, ice cream and more games than last year are planned. Members, membership renewals and prospective members are invited. Last year was a good time for kids of all ages and this year will be even bigger.

There will be no meeting in July because of the Fourth of July. Meetings will resume the first Wednesday in August with Kevin Beggs giving a presentation on the Lincolnton Coca Cola Bottling Plant.

Volunteer meeting

Lincoln County Department of Public Safety will have a volunteer's meeting, Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at 7 p.m. at the Office of Emergency Services Headquarters located at 160 School Street. All Public Safety volunteers are urged to attend.

Class info. need

Attention Lincoln County High School Class of 1989. We need your contact information ASAP. Plans are being made so that we can meet to make plans for our 20th class reunion. Please email us at lincolnclass of1989@yahoo.com with your name, address, phone number and email address.

Planning meetings

The Lincoln County Planning Commission will hold all its regularly scheduled meetings in the Planning and Zoning Conference Room located at 107 Perryman Avenue unless otherwise advertised. The meeting dates are:; July 7; Aug. 11; Sept. 8; Oct. 6; Nov. 10; Dec. 8.

Fund set up

A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to aid the Beggs family.

The funds collected will help defray medical expenses associated with the cancer treatment and meet the needs of the Beggs family.

Contributions to the Beggs Fund may be made at the bank during regular business hours or by using the night depository. Donations may also be mailed to the bank at P.O. Box 99, Lincolnton, Georgia, 30817. Please remember to write " Lyndsie Beggs Fund" on the envelope.

Bingo is Friday

Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo. For more information, contact (706) 359-3445.

TIA Helping Hand

The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/ 50.

Park activities

Meet a backwoods trapper and his wife, who will tell you how they trap and prepare pelts for use and how they make the clothing they wear on Saturday, June 21 betweej 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the log cabin museum.

Barbecue sale

VBS at Faith Tabernacle

Faith Tabernacle Church family would like to invite you to cast off on a tropical adventure as we discover the stability of God's truth.

Meet & Greet The Lincoln County Democratic Party will host a "Meet and Greet" at 6:30 p.m, on Monday, June 23. at The Lincoln Center.

St. Paul UMC will be hosting a Fairwell Reception for Rev. & Mrs. David Jenkins on Sunday, June 22, 2008 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the church fellowship hall. Revival at Solomon Pool

Solomon Pool Holiness Church in Washington will be having revival June 25-27, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. each night. The speaker for this occasion will be Pastor Peggy W. Zellars, pastor of Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries in Lincolnton. The public is invited to attend.

Fireworks June 27

The 13th Annual Fireworks over Lake Russell sponsored by the Elbert County Board of Commissioners will take place from 6 to 9pm on Friday, June 27, 2008 at Richard B. Russell State Park. Concessions will be available. The show starts promptly at 9:20 pm. There is an entrance fee of $6 per vehicle. For more information, call (706) 283-5651.

CCLC to meet

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County (CCLC) will have its monthly meeting Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County library. The guest speaker of the evening is a member of the American Legion, Post # 194. Election of new officers will take place during the meeting. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Summer activities

The following is a list of summer activities being offered by Lincoln County 4-H.

Fort Discovery Adventure will take place on June 19 in Augusta, Ga. Cost: $5 per person. The National Science Center will make learning fun for all students across the nation about math, science, and technology.

Six Flags Adventure will take place on June 24 in Atlanta, GA. Cost: $30.00 per person. Come join your Lincoln 4-H friends as we take on all of the roller coaster rides at Six Flags theme park. Minimum: 10 participants.

Let's Go to the Movies on June 27 in Augusta, Ga. Cost: Free. This event is for Lincoln County 4-H'ers who have been active participants for the 2007-2008 school year. Minimum: 10 participants.

District meeting

The Lincoln County Missionary Cluster of the 10th District will meet at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday morning, June 21, 2008 at 10 a.m.

Mothers honored

The First Baptist Church Mother Board will be honoring the oldest members in the church, mother, Rosie Lee Smith, mother, Maudell Leverett, sister, Susie Mae Gartrell and sister, Martha Jones on June 29 at 2 p.m. The public is invited. Rev. Dennis Quinn, pastor.

Society anniversary

Sons and Daughters of Bethlehem Society anniversary will be held at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church on June 26, 2008 at 5 p.m. Mr. Howie Gunby is the guest speaker for this event. Everyone is invited
