Mr. Charles H. Guillebeau, Jr. 84, husband of the late Virginia Guthrie Guillebeau of Guillebeau Rd. died Thursday, June 5, 2008 at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Monday, June 9, 2008 at New Hope Baptist Church with Revs. Tom Kalliokoski and Robert D. Adams officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery with military honors. Mr. Guillebeau, son of the late Charles H. and Mamie Bonner Guillebeau was a lifelong resident of the Maxim community. He was a retired farmer and finish carpenter. A U.S. Army veteran of WWII, Mr Guillebeau served in both the European and Pacific Theatres. He was a a recipient of the Purple Heart Medal.
He was a lifelong member of New Hope Baptist Church, where he had served as Deacon, and Sunday School Secretary Emeritus after years of dedicated service. Mr. Guillebeau was a kind, quiet, unassuming, caring individual, a true Christian gentleman in every sense of the word.
Survivors include: one son, Ernie Gurthrie of Lincolnton; two daughters, Barbara Guthrie Gibbs, and Gail Guthrie Remson, both of Lincolnton; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven greatgreat grandchildren.
