David Russell Smith
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 13 at New Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Roy D. Andrews officiating. David was born October 14, 1967 to the late Mr. Charlie Smith, Jr. and Mrs. Geneva Smith of Lincolnton. He was a 1986 graduate of Lincoln County High School. After graduation he joined the United States Navy where he served eight years. He was employed at Club Car as a maintenance technician. He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie Smith, Jr. and his sister in-law, Mrs. Delores Smith. Survivors include his wife, Darlene Smith; his mother, Geneva Smith of the home; his four brothers, Robert (Margaret) Smith, John Wesley Smith, Willie Roger Smith, and John (Tammie) Smith all of Lincolnton; Steve Benning who grew up with him as a brother and a best friend; a very special cousin and friend Kim Fergu- son; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Pallbearers were Steve Benning, Anthony Brown, Rico Cox, Ted Elder, Tony Glaze and Daniel McCord. Honorary pallbearers were members of the LCHS Class of 1986. |
