Esther Butler Bodie

Mrs. Esther Butler Bodie, 75, of Plum Branch, SC, died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at University Hospital in Augusta.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 28, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Plum Branch. Interment followed in the Plum Branch Cemetery.

Mrs. Bodie, daughter of the late Lemuel M. and Inez Albea Butler, was born in Wilkes County on August 9, 1932. She had been a resident of Plum Branch for 59 years, a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Plum Branch, and a retired business owner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert "Billy" Bodie, sister Emogene Huguley, and brothers, Harold Albea Butler, Gerald "Pete" Butler, and H.M. Butler.

Survivors include four daughters: Debra Helwig and husband, Wayne of Statesboro; Suzan Hogan and husband Joe; Gay White and husband Robert; and Jan Bodie, all of Lincolnton; two sisters: Kathryn Dill and Audrey Butler of Rotanda West, FL; one brother: Tom Butler, also of Rotanda Beach, FL; grandchildren: Will Bodie and wife Lauren, Sara Helwig, Joseph Hogan, Billy Beck Hogan, Matthew Helwig, C.J. White, Many Pruitt, and Austin Pruitt.

Mrs. Bodie's grandsons along with Randy White served as pallbearers.
