Community Calendar Auxiliary to meet The Ladies Auxiliary Unit 194 will have their monthly meeting Thursday, June 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post 194. All members are encouraged to attend and new members are welcome. Please remember to bring the following items for the Food Pantry: canned tomatoes and vegetables. Planning meetings The Lincoln County Planning Commission will hold all its regularly scheduled meetings in the Planning and Zoning Conference Room located at 107 Perryman Avenue unless otherwise advertised. The meeting dates are:; July 7; Aug. 11; Sept. 8; Oct. 6; Nov. 10; Dec. 8. Fund set up A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to aid the Beggs family. The funds collected will help defray medical expenses associated with the cancer treatment and meet the needs of the Beggs family. Contributions to the Beggs Fund may be made at the bank during regular business hours or by using the night depository. Donations may also be mailed to the bank at P.O. Box 99, Lincolnton, Georgia, 30817. Please remember to write " Lyndsie Beggs Fund" on the envelope. For more information about the fund, contact Farmers State Bank at (706) 359-3131. Fish plate sale The Legionnaires of American Legion Post 597 will have a "Fish Dinner Plate Sale" on Saturday, June 7, 2008 beginning at 11 a.m. The sale will last until everything is sold. Dinners will consist of hot, fried fish, coleslaw, and baked beans. Plan to eat lunch at Post 597 located on Thomas Lane Post Road. You may dine or get carry out. Council meeting The School Council for Lincoln County High School will meet Thursday June 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the media center. Any interested parents should plan to attend. Dinner served Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal. VBS at Morningside Morningside Baptist Church is calling all kids, ages 3 to 12 to join us at Outriggers Island June 23-27 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Pre-registration will be June 23 at 6 p.m.Hop on the surf board and learn the truth of God's word. Swimming lessons The Lincoln County Recreation Department will give swimming lessons June 9 through June 12 at 6 p.m. It costs $40.00 per child, ages 8 - 16. Board of elections meetings The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted. CHBA to meet The Clarks Hill Beekeepers Association will hold a membership meeting at 7 p.m. on June 9 at the Lincolnton Club House. Fishing tournament A fishing tournament will be held Saturday, June 14 at the Cox Farm for boys and girls up to age 16. It will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 12 noon. Church anniversary Morningside Baptist Church will celebrate its 25th Anniversary on Sunday, June 8,2008 at 10 a.m. Ellis Moore, founding pastor, will be the speaker. After a fellowship dinner, the Cloudland Vocal Band will be in concert. Fireworks June 27 The 13th Annual Fireworks over Lake Russell sponsored by the Elbert County Board of Commissioners will take place from 6 to 9pm on Friday, June 27, 2008 at Richard B. Kid day June 18 There will be a full moon on June 18 so what we'll do is get as many grandkids as we can in one place, feed them hot dogs and ice cream and then give them prizes for good grades , good dentist checkups, being in a summer reading program and so forth. Sound like a plan? Remember last year? Hold on to your hat! Fun starts at 11 am at the Historical Park. We might even sing a silly song. Workshop at FBC Purpose of Life Ministries is sponsoring a Gospel Music Workshop Worship Experience on June 11-13 at 7 p.m. nightly. It will climax with a concert on June 14 at 5 p.m. First Baptist Church of Lincolnton, Ga. will host the workshop. The concert is free to the public and there is a $10 seed offering for adults; youth are free. The seed will cover the cost of materials, which will be provided at registration.
