Billy Glenn Rice

Mr. Billy Glenn (Bill) Rice entered into rest May 6, 2008 at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 10 at Ashford Memorial Methodist Church on South Main Street in Watkinsville with the Rev. Lowrie Welton, pastor officiating.

Mr. Rice lived in Watkinsville, Georgia most of his life, but had recently became a resident at Harpers Personal Care home in Washington, Georgia.

Mr. Rice was born on April 27, 1927, in Haywood County, North Carolina and just recently celebrated his 81st birthday. He was the son of George Dewey Rice and Kathryn Glenna Jordan. Mr. Rice was a veteran of World War II, serving his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a retired accountant, a Mason, and a member of Ashford Memorial Methodist Church in Watkinsville.

Mr. Rice was preceded in death by his daughter, Betty Rice Pace and his wife, Berda Watkins.

Survivors include his only son, Larry Carlton Rice and wife, Louise M. Rice of Lincolnton; his sister, Emilie Jane Rice Ying; grandchildren, Josh Williamson, Amanda Pace, and Robbie Pace; step-children, Frank Watson, Barbara W. Gassaway, Gail W. Gomez and husband, Joe; Loretta W. Yamilkoski and husband, Vincent; six step-grandchildren; twelve stepgreat grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives.

Pallbearers were Robbie Pace, Josh Williamson, Mike Stalknaker, Jackie Rice, Tyree Rice, and Frank Watkins. Honorary pallbearers were Joshua Johnson and Caleb Johnson.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Ashford Memorial Methodist Church, P.O. Box 344, in Watkinsville, Georgia. Any other correspondence may be sent to Larry Rice, 2218 Washington Hwy, Lincolnton.

Oconee Chapel Funeral Directors was in charge of arrangements.
