No Scrabble in May

The Scrabble Club which meets at the library will not meet in May because the books from the book sale will still be on display in the annex. Then the next Sunday is Mother's Day. We'll start up again in June. See you June 1!

Class of 98 reunion

Planning meetings

The Lincoln County Planning Commission will hold all its regularly scheduled meetings in the Planning and Zoning Conference Room located at 107 Perryman Avenue unless otherwise advertised. The meeting dates are:; July 7; Aug. 11; Sept. 8; Oct. 6; Nov. 10; Dec. 8.

Fund set up

A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to aid The Beggs Family.

The funds collected will help defray medical expenses associated with the cancer treatment and meet the needs of The Beggs Family.

Contributions to the Beggs Fund may be made at the bank during regular business hours or by using the night depository. Donations may also be mailed to the bank at P.O. Box 99, Lincolnton, Georgia, 30817. Please remember to write " Lyndsie Beggs Fund" on the envelope.

VBS at New Work

New Work Baptist Church invites all children in Lincoln County to join us at SonWorld Adventure Park VBS! "Were ready for a Vacation Bible School your children will never forget," said Russell Davis, Pastor at New Work. "At SonWorld Adventure Park your kids will experience the fun and excitement of an amusement park!"

Children will have a great time singing, watching skits, creating crafts and playing games. But most important, they'll discover more about who Jesus is and about some important choices everyone has to make.

"We're looking forward to sharing this exciting event with the children and parents in our area. We hope they will all join us at SonWorld Adventure Park."

Dinner served

Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.

VBS at St. Paul

Calling all kids, ages 3-12! Come blast off and explore Cosmic City at St. Paul UMC Vacation Bible School, Tues., June 3, through Fri., June 6. Board of elections meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

CHBA to meet

The Clarks Hill Beekeepers Association will hold a membership meeting at 7 p.m. on June 9 at the Lincolnton Club House.

The election of officers will be held and the planning of associational activities will be discussed.

White Rock Baptist Church of Lincolnton is celebrating its second Pastoral Appreciation Service for Rev. Seymore Harrison, Sr. at 3 p.m. May 25. Rev. William Blount and the Greater Young Zion Baptist Church of Augusta will be in charge of services. Everyone is invited to attend and dinner will be served.

VBS at LBC

Lincolnton Baptist Church will host an End of School Block Party/VBS Kickoff, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., May 31 for kids in K5- sixth grade. We will have Jumpin' Beans Inflateables, games, prize drawings and a hot dog lunch. Outrigger Island Vacation Bible School will begin Sun., June 1 through Thurs., June 5, 7-9 p.m. nightly.

A special bank account has been set up at Farmers State Bank to benefit Lou McKellar and her daughter, Kelli, whose house burned during a recent move. TIA Helping Hand

The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/ 50.

Scholarship day

Newberry Missionary Baptist Church will host the annual Jennie Garnett Scholarship Day at 8 a.m., June 8. The program is sponsored by the Jennie Garnett Inspirational Choir and will take place during the regular worship service. Everyone is invited. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Big summer concert

The BIG Summer Concert will be held at p.m., Sunday, June 1st, at First Assembly of God with musical guests: Broken Romance & The BIG Student Praise Band.

Broken Romance is led by Evan Parham. Parham will lead amazing praise and worship to benefit the Jonathan Chancey Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The BIG Student Praise and Worship Team will open the night, followed by the featured band from Elberton, Ga. There is no cost for the concert but an offering will be collected to support Lincoln County Youth who would like to attend Camp Timberlake the week of June 16- 20th. The concert is open to all ages, children through senior adult. Don't miss this amazing night!

Rehoboth Baptist Church will host Vacation Bible School 6-8:30 p.m., June 1-5. Commencement will be at 7 p.m., Friday.

Fireworks June 27

The 13th Annual Fireworks over Lake Russell sponsored by the Elbert County Board of Commissioners will take place from 6 to 9pm on Friday, June 27, 2008 at Richard B. Russell State Park. Concessions will be available. The show starts promptly at 9:20 pm. There is an entrance fee of $6 per vehicle. For more information, call (706) 283-5651.

Graduation party

Baseball camp Baseball camp for upcoming grades three through eight. Camp will be held at 6:30 p.m. each evening, June 16- 18 at the Lincoln County Recreation Dept. Cost is $30 per child. The Lincoln County Recreation Dept. pool opens May 27. Cost is $2 per person. Pool hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 12 p.m.-6 p.m.
