Rate increases for Journal will take effect June 1 Effective June 1, 2008, there will be an increase in subscription rates for The Lincoln Journal. This marks the first rate increase in nine years. "It is with regret that we have been forced to raise our rates," publisher Sparky Newsome said, "but increases in the cost of postage, gasoline, and newsprint leave us with no choice." The new rates for a one-year subscription to The Journal are $21 "in county" and $28 "out of county." Customers may renew their subscriptions or purchase new subscriptions for up to two years at the current rates through the end of May. Again, The Journal regrets the inevitable rate hike but pledges to try and keep the new rates, still some of the lowest in the state, as reasonable as possible for as long as possible. "We would like to thank everyone who reads and advertises in The Journal for their continued support," Newsome said. "We plan on continuing to put out the best newspaper we can possibly produce |
