T.J.Carani wins state title

Members of the LCHS Literary Team attending the GHSA State Class A Literary Meet were: (l-r) Ashley Rivera, Abigail Minor, T.J. Carani, and Nikolas Spens.
LCHS captured one individual title and finished third-place in the team standings at the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) State Class A Literary Meet held at Northside High School in Warner Robins.

T.J. Carani, a junior at LCHS, was named the state Class A champion in Boys Extemporaneous Speaking. This marks the second consecutive time he has placed in the top four at the state meet. His win also gave the school its third state championship in Extemporaneous Speaking since 2004.

He is the son of Stephanie and Brett Carani.

According to Lee Robinson, literary coordinator and speaking events coach at LCHS, "T.J. has had a fantastic year in Extemporaneous Speaking. In addition to winning the state title, he also earned a bid to NFL(National Forensic League) Nationals back in February. We are all very proud of him."

Assisted by Carani's win, the LCHS Literary Team finished in a tie for third overall at the state meet. The rankings were as follows: Abigail Minor, third place, Girls Essay; Ashley Rivera, third place, Girls Solo; and Nikolas Spens, second place, Boys Essay.
