Free safety inspection at Dorn Boat Ramp

The Thurmond Lake Sail & Power Squadron will be conducting free boat safety inspections and certifications 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Sat., May 17 at the Dorn Boat Ramp in McCormick. The Dorn Boat Ramp is located off Highway 378 heading from McCormick to Thurmond Lake, near the Hawe Creek Campground.

This vessel safety check is a courtesy examination of your boat to verify the presence and condition of certain safety equipment required by State and Federal regulations.

Boats can be inspected on trailers or in the water. The examiners are trained specialists and members of TLS&P. No report about your boat is ever made to any law enforcement agency.

If your boat meets the VSC program requirements, you will be given a Vessel Safety Check decal which is your assurance that your boat is properly equipped and meets the minimum requirements. Boats that fail will be given a copy of the examiners evaluation to bring the vessel into compliance.
