Community Calendar No Scrabble in May The Scrabble Club which meets at the library will not meet in May because the books from the book sale will still be on display in the annex. Then the next Sunday is Mother's Day. We'll start up again in June. See you June 1! Promotion ceremony The Eleventh Annual Eighth-grade Promotion Ceremony will be held Tues., May 20th, 7 p.m. in the Lincoln County Middle School/High School gymnasium. The program will feature addresses given by the students with the highest averages in the class and the presentation of academic achievement awards. Parents of eighth grade students interested in their child participating in the ceremony need to call the school at 706-359-3069 by Friday, May 9. Planning meetings The Lincoln County Planning Commission will hold all its regularly scheduled meetings in the Planning and Zoning Conference Room located at 107 Perryman Avenue unless otherwise advertised. The meeting dates are:; June 9; July 7; Aug. 11; Sept. 8; Oct. 6; Nov. 10; Dec. 8. Fund set up A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to aid The Beggs Family. The funds collected will help defray medical expenses associated with the cancer treatment and meet the needs of The Beggs Family. Contributions to the Beggs Fund may be made at the bank during regular business hours or by using the night depository. Donations may also be mailed to the bank at P.O. Barbeque fund-raiser Double Branches Baptist Church is hosting a barbecue chicken dinner to raise money for their youth group. The event is planned for 5-8 p.m., Fri., May 16. Post 194 to meet American Legion Post 194 will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m., May 20. at the Post Home. Election of officers will be held. All members are encouraged to attend. Board of elections meetings The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted. Seeking ads The 2009 Lincoln County School System yearbook, The Panorama, has a chance to make history as the first all-color yearbook. In the past, the yearbook has had 18 color pages, and the rest were black and white. Revival services Revival Services will be held at Rehoboth Baptist Church May 18-21, beginning at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Evening services will be at 7 p.m. "I am extremely excited about the team that will be coming to lead during this time" says Pastor Stephen Rayner. A new organization called Georgia Campers on Mission will be coming in from different parts of the state to work with the church.
