John Bussey Smith, Sr. Mr. John Bussey Smith, Sr. entered into rest on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Doctor's Hospital in Augusta, Ga. Funeral service were held at 3 p.m. Sat., April 26 at Lincolnton Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Rosser officiating. Interment followed in Lincolnton City Cemetery with military and masonic rites. Mr. Smith was a lifelong resident of Lincolnton and the son of Reuben Clark "Lovey" Smith and Louise McKaye Bussey Smith. He was a civil engineer; and before retiring, was owner of Smith Trucking and Grading. Mr. Smith was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served his country honorably during the Korean War. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of Masonic Lodge #354. Mr. Smith was also a member of Lincolnton Baptist Church, a 50 year member of American Legion Post #194 and a former Justice of the Peace for Lincoln County. He was a former waste water superintindent and served on the zoning board for the city of Lincolnton. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Frances W. Smith; two daugh- ters, Linda S. Bailey and husband Richard of Waynesboro, Ga. and Anne S. Warren of Augusta; two sons, John Bussey Smith, Jr. of Gainesville and Edward C. Smith of Loganville; four sisters, Martha S. Boyd of North Augusta, S.C., Jessie S. Britt of Hartwell, Lou Mary "Blukey" S. McIntosh of Lincolnton and Nancy S. Denison of Swainsboro; three grandchildren, Kelly Anne Rosales, Andrew Denham Bailey and John Oakley Warren; one great-grandchild, Landen "Oakley" Warren. Serving as pallbearers were Raymond Arnett, Robert Ashmore, Richard Butler, Benny Crook, Bob Norman and Robert Poss. Serving as honorary pallbearers were members of Masonic Lodge #354.
