Benefit dinner for Junior Turner The Christian Service Organization of Fishing Creek Baptist Church is planning a Country Cooking Supper 6-8 p.m., Sat., April 26. Cost is $6 for all you can eat. Take out plates will be available. All proceeds benefit Frank Turner, Jr. (known as Junior), who has many health problems. He is on Social Security disability; however, there is a need for additional help with medical expenses. Turner was diagnosed first with diabetes and high blood pressure, then with vascular disease in his legs. One leg has a stent to relieve a blockage. He suffered kidney failure in Jan., 2007, and now requires dialysis three times per week. He had laser surgery on both eyes in January, and open heart surgery in February. He has also been hospitalized several times to treat fluid build-up in his lungs. Turner's family, including wife Linda and their three daughters have been active members of Fishing Creek Baptist Church for more than 25 years. The couple also have five grandchildren. Junior Turner is an ordained deacon, Sunday School Secretary, song leader, and President of the church's Christian Service Organization, which has helped many people suffering illness or disaster. The church family now asks the community to help Junior Turner, as he has helped so many others. Anyone who cannot attend the dinner, but would like to give a donation, can send a check to Fishing Creeks Baptist Church, c/o Roger Walker, 2221 Sandtown Rd., Washington, Ga. 30673 or c/o Gloria Ware, 156 Sandtown Rd., Washington, Ga. 30673. Designate checks for the Junior Turner Benefit Fund. Rev. Roy Carter, pastor, invites and encourages everyone to participate in this worthwhile project. |
