Republicans to meet The Lincoln County Republican Party meeting scheduled for April 22 has been rescheduled for April 29, 2008. Yard/bake sale There will be a yard sale and bake sale held at Rocking R (Dish Network) this Saturday April 19, 2008. It will begin at 8:00 am until 2:00 p.m. All proceeds to benefit Relay for Life. Park activity A living history demonstration on colonial medicine will be held at the log cabin museum at Elijah Clark State Park on April 19 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Join Gerald Smith to learn how the colonial army doctors treated patients with medicines available at the time. Take home a herb doctor's recipe for various ailments and their cures, and learn what medicines are available from our own garden. Southern Gospel Night The Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce invites the community to the 14th annual Southern Gospel Night 7 p.m., April 30 at Elijah Clark State Park. Local choirs, soloists, and groups take to the stage with Little Roy and Lizzie Long as emcee. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the evening. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a FREE night of music! Choir performance Faith Tabernacle Church Choir will be having its first choir concert at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 20 in the church sanctuary. The choir is under the direction of Mr. Jasper Dukes. Faith Tabernacle Interdenominational Church pastor, Delcinia M. CCLC to meet Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will hold its monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m., April 17 at the Lincoln County Library. Golf tourney Harry's Lounge and Restaurant is hosting its 5th Annual Golf Tournament at Hickory Knob Golf Course on Sat., May 17. Greek Step Show, dance The Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 597 will sponsor a Greek Step Show and Dance at 8 p.m. Sat., April 26. The Step Show will feature groups from Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity from Atlanta. Following the step show a dance will be held, featuring DJ Crazy Man. Get with your friends and come out for an evening of dancing, fun and entertainment. Admission is $5 and valid identification will be required. A child must have been 4 years of age by September 1, 2007 and a resident of Lincoln County. Society events The Lincoln County Historical Society will have its May meeting on May 7, 2008 at noon. A covered dish lunch is planned. Grandkids Day is scheduled for June 18, 2008. That will be after school is out and vacations are complete. You know how busy kids are these days so get on their calenders now. A hot dog lunch, games, report card recognition, demonstrations and much more are planned. Last years Grandkids Day was a lot of fun for kids of all ages. Details will be published in The Journal. Spring Cleaning Day was a huge success. The Historical Park got an extreme makeover. The grass is cut, pollen is history, bathrooms are scrubbed, floors are mopped, furniture is dusted, benches and chairs in the Pavillion are scrubbed and everything is ready for the tours, receptions, meetings, weddings and parties planned this season. Two dozens members, including some new faces, did an outstanding job. Semi-annual book sale FOL's first semi-annual book sale is scheduled for April 28 through May 3 at the Lincoln County Library. Several thousand books will be displayed both outside and in the Dova Partridge Annex during the week. Prices range from 25 cents to $1.00. Come stock up! Candle-lighting prog. The Ebenezer Baptist Church Women's Mission Auxiliary will hold its Candle-lighting Program at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 20. The public is invited. Rev. Fred Perriman, pastor. Choruses to perform The sixth and eighth grade choruses of LCMS will perform concert versions of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Cinderella" under the direction of Carolee Hobbins, LCMS/LCHS Choral director. The eighth grade production is Thursday, April 17 beginning at 7:30p.m. Both performances will be in the LCHS auditorium. Some of the more well known numbers from these productions are "In My Own Little Corner", "Ten Minutes Ago", and "Impossible", just to mention a few. Both choruses have learned several dance numbers that are incorporated in to the show. Miranda Beale performs the role of Cinderella for the eighth grade production. Other eighth grade roles will be performed by Travis Vaught, Matessia Murray, Morgan Easter, SherneA Jones, D.J. Bentley, Katherine Poss, Hannah Bryant, Brian Herring, and Taylor Fernandes. Whitley Wright of the sixth grade chorus will perform as Cinderella while Alec Baldwin, Macy Hill, Taylor Benning, Bailey Crosby, James Young, Brittany Arrington, Maggie Partridge, Gideon Smith, and Jamaul Hawes appear in other roles. Admission for each show is $3.00 and LCMS gold cards will also be accepted. Reunion planning The Class of 1994 is in the process of planning a 15 year class reunion.
