Creagh to speak tonight Milton Creagh (KREE-uh), a nationally known motivational speaker, author, television personality, and corporate consultant, will be in Lincolnton today (Thursday) to talk to students at LCHS as well as adults in the community about everything from drugs and hip-hop to work ethics and good parenting. During the day, he will speak to high school students on the following topics: "Sex, Drugs, and Hip-Hop;" "The Mask," which deals with the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse; and "Who Are You?" which helps students examine the factors that most strongly influence their thoughts, belief systems, opinions, and actions. Creagh's program for adults, titled "Nobody Wants Your Child," is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria. The workshop is based on the principles outlined in his book of the same name. During the seminar, Creagh will offer an overview of the things parents do that make it difficult for their child to do well as an adult in the workplace, at home, and in society in general. The speaker will also discuss the lack of a solid work ethic among the nation's youth and provide a blueprint to help get kids on the right track for a successful life. Parents, teachers, school administrators, youth leaders, pastors, civic leaders, and other interested adults are encouraged to attend. Reared on Chicago's Southside, Creagh is best known for his hardhitting, inspirational talks to high school students. Addressing more than 200,000 young adults annually, he is one of the most in-demand speakers in America. His client list includes AT & T, the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Ford Motor Company, Harvard University, the Hyundai Corporation, the NCAA Coaches Association, the NFL, Penn State University, the United States Air Force Academy, and the United States Army. Moreover, Creagh, who is the former host of the national PBS series, "Parenting Works," has been featured in three nationally-syndicated television specials for MTI/Coronet Films: "Trap: Selling Drugs in the Inner City;" "Prejudice: Dividing the Dream;" and "Diversity in the USA." He also co-starred in the award-winning, made-for-television children's film "Pumpkin Man." In addition, articles on the speaker have appeared in "Jet" and "Right On" magazines, and he has been a guest on CNN, TBN, FOX' "Fox on Family," BET's "Screen Scene," "100 Huntley Street," and "The Ananda Lewis Show." Creagh's visit to Lincolnton is being sponsored by various businesses, individuals, and churches in the community.
