Area youth participate in Cheersport Nationals

Thomson Competitive Bulldogs attend Cheersport Nationals in Atlanta.
Thomson Competitive Bulldogs returned to Atlanta this past weekend competing with 900 teams in the Cheersport Nationals at the Georgia Congress Center with over 200,000 people in attendance, the second largest convention held in our capital city!

Each team performed phenomenally hitting there routines with no major falls or deductions. The competition was tuff and intense for all competitors. There were seven judges from all angles and the routines were filmed and reviewed by the judges a second time.

This is the best of the best from 37 states and several countries. The Senior Team pulled together and came home National Champions. The Junior Gold team which was the previous Junior Recreational National Champions fell to second place being beat out by an establish Savannah team. The Junior Gold team is made up of cheerleaders from 8 - 14 years of age. They are the first team to have a male competitor on the squad from Wrens, Georgia. This team's performance was solid and National calibrate.

Junior Black All Star team which consists of cheerleaders from age 12 - 14 competed in one of the most popular and demanding division. The division had over 40 teams competing and was sub divided into four sessions. The All-Star Junior black team placed 3rd in their division and 9th overall out of all the teams edging out several local competitors from the CSRA area. This team received from several judges giving 20 out of 20 on the perfection of routine. Quoting several of the seasoned parents, "This routine brought tears to my eye, they were just fantastic".

Two new teams made their debut this year at Nationals for TCB. The Youth Black All start consists of cheerleader from age 9 - 11 and they brought home 5th in their division in a large group of 42. TCB Youth Gold competed and a huge division of young ladies 8 years and under and placed 12th. With the talent on these two teams and another year of experience they will be ready to take on the BIG gyms.

The girls were treated to yet another experience in that they were able to see one of there coaches, take on the role as competitor herself. Cassidy Adams competing with the University of Georgia competitive team to a packed standing room only crowd. Needless to say, Cassidy had her own cheering section and TCB was ask by UGA to return and support them the next night which helped UGA bring home the National title as well. GO DAWGS.

Competition is fun and demanding and the cheerleaders were awesome. Each year the competition gets tougher and the competition is bigger. Just watching these 87 plus cheerleaders perform against teams that have been competing for over ten to fifteen years, holding their on and realizing this is only the fourth year for TCB. This makes me realize the talent and potential in our youth; the talents we are developing are God given talents and are meant to shine. TCB started with one backhand spring and 15 girls. It has grown to five squads from age 6 s to 18 years of age, all attending Nationals next year. The talent in the CSRA from these small towns is phenomenal. The TCB has girls from Jefferson, Glascock, Warrenton, Lincolntn, Wilkes, Columbia, and McDuffie County. We are now accepting dedicated athletes willing to work for next years team and will be starting tumbling, tech and stunt classes. TCB's tryouts are in May, but you can get ready for TCB or school tryout now.
