TIA Helping Hand

The original Clothes Closet, located on Firetower Rd., has reopened, now as T.I.A. Community Helping Hand. All proceeds will go toward the Lincoln County Food Pantry and emergency needs of the community, 50/ 50.

Planning meetings

The Lincoln County Planning Commission will hold all its regularly scheduled meetings in the Planning and Zoning Conference Room located at 107 Perryman Avenue unless otherwise advertised. The meeting dates are: March 10; April 7; May 5; June 9; July 7; Aug. 11; Sept. 8; Oct. 6; Nov. 10; Dec. 8.

Little League registration

Lincoln County Little League registration for baseball is now taking place. You can sign up at Cliatt Crossing, Farmers & Merchant Bank, Goldman & Wengrow or the LC Recreation Dept. Deadline is Feb. 29, 2008.

Golf tourney

The Lincoln County Athletic Boosters Club will sponsor a golf tournament March 29 at Golf de L (formerly Rocky Branch Golf Course). It will be a 4-man handicap, 24 max handicap with a 9 a.m. or 1 p.m. shotgun. $1000 cash prize closest to pin.

Drivers program

Sign up now for the AARP Drivers Safety Program for ages 50 and older to be held Wed. and Thurs., Feb. 20 - 21 from 1-5 p.m. Cost is $10 per person. Register by calling the library at 706-359-4014. Call now, class size is limited.

Women's ministry

Mobile mammography The University Mobile Mammography Unit will be at the Lincoln County Health Department February 21 and March 18..

Screening mammograms for women age 40 and above are usually covered by private insurance and Medicare. Call the health department at 359-3154 for more information

Easters to perform

A concert featuring Jeff and Sheri Easter and Gordon Mote, singer and pianist for Gaither Vocal Band will be held Sunday, February 24 at p.m. at First Assembly of God. A nursery will be provided and love offering will be received. For more information, please call 706- 359-7237.

Trail ride March 29

The Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce invites area horsemen to the Terry Tankersley Memorial Trail Ride at Bussey Point Recreation Area Sat., March 29 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Cost is $5 per horse with primitive camping with lunch on the 'Point.' Water available for horses only. No dogs please. Contact the chamber at 706-359-7970 for directions and more information.

Revival at FBC

Revival will be held at Lincolnton Baptist Church Sun., March 9 - Wed., March 12. Sunday morning services begin at 11 a.m. and evening services begin at 7 p.m. Evangelist Steve Freeman will lead Sun. through Tues. services and Dr. Leonard Dupree will lead Wed. service. There will be special music for each service.

Turkey shoot

The Sons of the American Legion Squadron 194 will have a turkey shoot March 22 at the American Legion Fairgrounds from 7 - 10 p.m. The drawing for the Stoeger M2000 automatic 12 gauge APG Camo Synthetic 23/4 inch and 3 inch gun will be held. Senior appreciation

Senior Citizens' Appreciation Day will be observed at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church on Sun., March 2 during the regular worship services at 11:15 a.m.. Everyone is invited. Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Financial aid session

Lincoln County High School will host a Financial Aid Information Session in the cafeteria on Mon., Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. for seniors and their parents.

Writing re-test

The Writing Re-Test portion of the Georgia High School Graduation Test will be given at 8:15 a.m. on Wed., Feb. 27. All students taking the test should bring a black or blue pen and two number two pencils with them to the test site.

Railroad days

Free concert

Concerts with a Cause concert series presents a performance of Brahms' A German Requiem featuring the Augusta Symphony, five area choruses, and soloists under the direction of renowned conductor Joseph Flummerfelt on Sun., March 16. This free concert is at 4 p.m. at First Baptist of Augusta.

Dinner served

Dinner served every Wed. and Fri. night at American Legion Post 194. Menu changes on Wednesdays. Steak night every Friday night which includes baked potato, large salad bar, bread, dessert and ice tea.

Church anniversary

Harmony Baptist Church of Lincolnton will be celebrating its 134th Church Anniversary on Sun., March 2, 2008 at 3 p.m. Rev. Roscoe Perry and First Mt. Carmel Baptist Church of Appling, Ga. will be in charge of the service. Everyone is invited - Come and be blessed! Rev. Freddie Neal, Sr. is pastor.

Yard sale March 1

A gigantic yard sale sponsored by Republican United Methodist Men's Club will be held at McCormick National Guard Armory Sat., March 1, 4 - 9 p.m. All vendors welcome, $20 per spot. Board meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held on the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, GA 30817, any changes to the schedule dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Seeking new members

The Huguenot Society of Georgia is seeking new members. We are descendants of French Protestants, who meet twice yearly in various cities in Georgia. Community gospel singing

The Lincoln County Ministerial Association will sponsor a Community Gospel Sing on Friday evening, Feb. 29 at 7 p.m. at First Assembly of God. This will be a time for members of our community to share their talents for a good cause. A love offering will be received to benefit the Ministerial Association. These funds are used to help with benevolent needs throughout the year. A nursery will be provided.

NAACP banquet

The NAACP Annual Banquet will be held Sat., Feb. 23, 7 p.m. at Faith Tabernacle Life Center, 249 Faith Lane.
