Christine Parks Jones

Mrs. Christine Parks Jones, 70, entered into rest Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at McDuffie Regional Hospital in Thomson, Ga.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 3 at Prices Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis J. Quinn officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Jones was born to the late Claude Parks and the late Ruth Elizabeth Murray on January 2, 1938 in Lincolnton. She lived briefly in Long Island, New York before returning to Lincolnton. She was employed by Soap Creek Lodge as a cook and she also served as a private caretaker. Mrs. Jones enjoyed cooking, gardening and sitting on her front porch reading the newspaper.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon John Kelly Jones and a brother, Roy Lee Parks.

Survivors include a son, Dewayne Jones of Lincolnton; four daughters, Vickie Beverly Jones, Lorie Ann Jones, Kelly Mae Jones and Penny Jones, all of Lincolnton; three brothers, Mr. Rufus Reid of Alabama, Mr. John Henry Reid and Mr. Freddie Reid, both of Fort Worth, Texas; her stepmother, Mrs. Eva Parks of Lincolnton; ten grandchildren, Janice Marie Coppin, Erika Denise Jones, Kendra Lukay Jones, Lushanda Durham, Sabrina Evette Jones, Brandon Antwon Harris, Monica Lee Jones, Ephariam Jones, Alisha Nicole Brown and Timothy O'landra Brown; one great-grandchild, Delexica Durham; two aunts, Mrs. Louise Lightner of Lincolnton and Mrs. Frossie Beard of Harlem, Ga.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Effie Lou Parks of Appling, Ga.; three special friends, Mrs. Idell Porter, Ms. Kathleen Tutt and Mrs. Perry Ann Beard, all of Lincolnton; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Alphonzo Williams, Racy Freeman, Archie Wright, Pete Williams, Jerome Smith, Phil Norman, Tim Jones and William Ferguson. Flower bearers were Dean Perrin, Sara Harris, Mary Neil Reid, Louise Ferguson, Lisa Ferguson, Merion Benning and Essie Norman.

Norris W. Gunby, Sr. Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
