Rev. Reviere slated as guest speaker at MLK observance

REV. PAUL REVIERE
The annual Lincoln County Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Observance will take place Sunday, January 20, at 3 p.m. in the LCHS Auditorium.

The event is sponsored by Lincoln County Government, the City of Lincolnton, the Twilight Improvement Association, Inc. (TIA), and the Lincoln County Chapter of the NAACP.

The guest speaker for the occasion is Rev. Paul Reviere, pastor of Tabor Baptist Church in Tignall.

A graduate of LCHS, Rev. Reviere earned a Bachelor of Science in political science from Georgia Southern University and did post-baccalaureate work in elementary education at Augusta State University. He has taught third grade at LCES for the past 33 years.

As an educator, Reviere has received numerous honors and awards. One of the most prestigious was being elected chairman of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools' (SACS) Council on Accreditation and School Improvement for 2007. He has also served on various committees for the Georgia Department of Education and is currently a member of the Advance ED Board of Trustees, an organization that represents the accreditation interests of 30 states.

The guest speaker likewise has the distinction of having been selected as Lincoln County's first-ever "Teacher of the Year" in 1986.

In addition to teaching school and pastoring a church, Reviere serves as the coroner for Lincoln County and works part time as a funeral director for Beggs Funeral Home.

He is married to the former Ann Florence of Lincolnton.

Along with Reviere, the birthday observance will also feature readings, congregational singing, and special music provided by Peyson Moss, a student at Gainesville College; Jeree Dukes and Ashley Rivera, students at LCHS; and Shannon Cox, the praise team leader at First Assembly of God.

Joy Bussey, administrative assistant for the Lincoln County Department of Public Works, is set to preside over the observance. A 1995 graduate of LCHS, Bussey holds a master's degree in business administration from Strayer University in Newington, Virginia.
