Walter O. Wideman

Mr. Walter O. Wideman, 83, of 4850 Hwy. 378 West entered into rest on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Self Regional Medical Center, Greenwood, S.C.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2007 at McCormick United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry James and Rev. Don Clendaniel officiating. Interment followed in Overbrook Cemetery.

Mr. Wideman was the son of the late James O. Wideman and Ruby Findley Wideman. He retired from McCormick Mill, where he was employed for 47 years and was a member of McCormick United Methodist Church. Walter was an avid golfer and a member of the McCormick Country Club.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Madge Bunch Wideman; two sons, Roger Wideman and wife, Martha of McCormick and Ricky Wideman and wife, Susan of Boca Raton, Fl.; three daughters, Patsy W. Wilson of McCormick, Wendy W. Corbitt and husband, Cary of Hilton Head, S.C. and Judy W. Smith and husband, Roger of Easley, S.C.; sister, Elaine W. Lawton of Monroe, Va.; two brothers, Marvin Wideman of Bluffton, S.C. and Melvin Wideman of Cacey, S.C.; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers were: Chris Bundrick, Parker Corbitt, Matt Thomas, Fredrick Wideman, Glen Wideman and Brad Wilson. Rees Funeral Home, 195 Peachtree St., Lincolnton, Ga. was in charge of arrangements.
