Board of elections meetings
The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.
Night to Remember
The first Night to Remember will be held Tues., Jan. 20, 7 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church. If you have had a loved one pass and want to attend an uplifting evening for remembrance, mark your calendars. Refreshments will be served. If you would like a luminary placed for your loved one, please call the New Hope Baptist Church office at 706-359- 4580 and allow us the pleasure to provide one for you at no cost.
Dinner at Post 194
Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.
Christmas angel
If you are looking for the perfect Christmas gift, go to the Tax Commissioner's office. Concrete Christmas angels and Ga. Tech banners will make just the right stocking stuffer. All money from the sale of these items will go toward Relay for Life.
Dance at Post 597
Foo d pantr y hours The La dies Auxiliary of Thomas- Lane American Legion Post 597 will have a New Year's Eve Dance on Wed., Dec. 31 beginning at 10 p.m. A fun night has been planned with great music and light refreshments. Bingo is Friday
Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo. For more information, contact (706) 359-3445.
The Lincoln County Food Pantry will be closed Dec. 25, 2008 and will reopen on Jan. 8, 2009. People that are due to pick up on Thurs., Dec. 25 please come in on Mon., Dec. 22. We will open from 9 a.m. - 12 noon. Only the people who are due regular monthly pick up on Thurs., Dec. 25.
NWTF banquet
The National Wild Turkey Federation's 6th Annual Banquet will be held on Fri., Jan. 9, 2009 at the American Legion Post 194. Doors open at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7:30. Seating is limited. For tickets contact Michael Wengrow at Goldman & Wengrow or Brett Carani - 359-1394.
Christmas even service
St. Paul United Methodist Church will be having a Christmas Eve Service at 5 p.m. The public is invited.
Tuesday prayer
True Fellowship invites everyone to prayer each Tuesday 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Bishop James Ware is pastor.

Flu vaccine avail
Flu vaccine is now available at the Lincoln County Health Dept. Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The charge is $25 cash, Medicare Part B or Medicaid. If you will be using your Medicare or Medicaid card for your method of payment and you have a primary insurance plan, please be prepared to present both cards.
GED/Adult classes
Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon. and Tues., 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Thursday: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.
Power wheelchairs
The Senior Wheels USA Program makes available power wheelchairs to senior citizens and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify.
The power wheelchairs are provided to those who can no longer walk safely, nor self-propel a manual wheelchair, and who meet the additional guidelines of the program.

Christmas party
American Legion Post 194 will hold its annual Legion Family Christmas Party on Sat., Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. Please remember to bring a covered dish. Santa Claus will also be there. Contact 706-359-3445 for more information.
Tutoring available
Peer tutoring is available after school on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. Interested students should contact Regina Reed at 706-359-3121. Teachers are also available before and after school to assist students in different academic subjects.
Mr. LCMS contest
The annual Mr. LCMS Contest, sponsored by the LCMS Student Council, will be held on Monday, February 2. The contest is open to all boys who attend Lincoln County Middle School. Entry fee is $30. Entry deadline is Fri., Jan. 16. Applications may be picked up in the middle school office or from Mrs. Christie Bryan. Young Miss Pageant
The Lincoln Young Miss Pageant will be held on January 29th, 2009 at

Watch Night Service
First Baptist Church will have a Watch Night Service Dec. 31 beginning at 9 p.m. Rev. Alvin Rivers and St. Luke Baptist Church will be in charge of the service. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor. The public is invited to attend.

Tree of Remembrance
The Lincoln County Historical Society Tree of Remembrance committee will be taking donations of $1 "In Honor" or "In Memory" of a family member or loved one through Dec. 24. The tree is located at the intersection of Peachtree and Main Streets. Donation sheets can be found at City Pharmacy, C & B Drug Co. or Jericho Florist. Mail donations to Laura Spratlin, P. O. Greens for sale
The NWBC WOM are selling locally grown cooked collards by the quart for $6.00 and a quart of boiled peanuts for $4.00 on December 29th from 1 to 7 pm or until sold out. All proceeds will be donated to the Lottie Moon Missions.
