DOT opens lanes for holiday travelers and issues advisory
      For holiday travelers, Georgia DOT will suspend construction-related lane closures on all interstates and major state routes from 12 p.m., Tuesday, December 23 until 5 a.m., Monday, December 29. Permanent lane closures may also be in place on I-85 in Meriwether and Coweta counties, I-75 in South Georgia and I-95 on the coast.

County votes to pave parking lots at recreation complex
      The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners voted to hire Hobbs & Sons of Dearing to pave the parking lot by the tennis courts, the parking lot at the softball field, and the lower driveway, all at the Curry Colvin Recreation Complex, for $63,840.

Irvin grants special permit for nine flying reindeer
      Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin has granted a special 24-hour permit, waiving routine identification and other health requirements for nine flying reindeer, slated to visit the state on the evening of Wednesday, December 24, and during the early morning hours of Thursday, December 25.
