Board of elections meetings
The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.
Letters from Santa
Your child can receive a letter from Santa encouraging their continued good behavior this year. Simply drop off a $4 donation to The Alzheimer's Association, the child's name, age, address and something special they're hoping for this year, at the Lincoln County Public Library between now and Dec. 19.
Enjoy seeing the excitement on the child's face when they receive their very own letter from Santa and help support a good cause at the same time!
Night to Remember
The first Night to Remember will be held Tues., Jan. 20, 7 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church. If you have had a loved one pass and want to attend an uplifting evening for remembrance, mark your calendars. Refreshments will be served. If you would like a luminary placed for your loved one, please call the New Hope Baptist Church office at 706-359- 4580 and allow us the pleasure to provide one for you at no cost.
Christmas at Post 597
Thomas-Lane American Legion Post 597 will have its annual Christmas party Sun., Dec. 21 beginning at 8 p.m.
A fun night has been planned with great music and delicious refreshments. Dress is semi-formal and tickets are available for purchase from any Legionnaire or member of the Ladies Auxiliary. If you are looking for the perfect Candlelight service Harmony Baptist Church Missionary Ministry will be hosting its annual Missionary Candlelight Service on Sun., Dec. 21, at 5 p.m. Rev. Enoch Ward, Jr. and First Metropolitan Baptist Church in Augusta will be in charge of the service. All are invited and welcomed - come and be blessed. Rev. Freddie Neal, Sr. is pastor.
Bingo is Friday
Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo. For more information, contact (706) 359-3445.
Dinner at Post 194
Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.
Christmas angel
Christmas gift, go to the Tax Commissioner's office. Concrete Christmas angels and Ga. Tech banners will make just the right stocking stuffer. All money from the sale of these items will go toward Relay for Life.
Dance at Post 597
The Ladies Auxiliary of Thomas- Lane American Legion Post 597 will have a New Year's Eve Dance on Wed., Dec. 31 beginning at 10 p.m. A fun night has been planned with great music and light refreshments. Food pantry hours
The Lincoln County Food Pantry will be closed Dec. 25, 2008 and will reopen on Jan. 8, 2009. People that are due to pick up on Thurs., Dec. 25 please come in on Mon., Dec. 22. We will open from 9 a.m. - 12 noon. Only the people who are due regular monthly pick up on Thurs., Dec. 25.
GED/Adult classes
Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon. and Tues., 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Thursday: 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.
Christmas program
The Night the Animals Talk will be presented Sat., Dec. 20 at First Baptist Church's Christmas Program.
Our children and youth will share their plays and recitations beginning at 5 p.m. Come and enjoy their singing, acting, and orations. The expressions of children always bless us.

Tuesday prayer True Fellowship invites everyone to prayer each Tuesday 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Bishop James Ware is pastor.

Power wheelchairs
The Senior Wheels USA Program makes available power wheelchairs to senior citizens and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify.
The power wheelchairs are provided to those who can no longer walk safely, nor self-propel a manual wheelchair, and who meet the additional guidelines of the program.
If the patient's need is for use in the home, please call for more information to see if they qualify. Call toll free at 1-800-246-6010.
Flu vaccine avail
Flu vaccine is now available at the Lincoln County Health Dept. Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The charge is $25 cash, Medicare Part B or Medicaid. If you will be using your Medicare or Medicaid card for your method of payment and you have a primary insurance plan, please be prepared to present both cards.
Basketball tourney
Lincoln County High School Christmas Basketball Tournament. Friday 12/19/2008 beginning at 4:00pm and Saturday 12/20/2008 beginning at 2:00pm. There are eight teams (4 girls and 4 boys) in the tournament: Oglethorpe, Taliaferro, Washington- Wilkes, and Lincoln. Trophies will be presented to the 1st and 2nd place teams.
Secret Santa
With Christmas right around the corner, Huddle House is gearing up for another successful year of Secret Santa. You may begin dropping off your toys for children early this year. For every new, unwrapped toy valued at $25 or more, the child will also receive a free meal.
Tutoring available
Peer tutoring is available after school on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. Interested students should contact Regina Reed at 706-359-3121. Teachers are also available before and after school to assist students in different academic subjects.
Christmas party American Legion Post 194 will hold its annual Legion Family Christmas Party on Sat., Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. Please remember to bring a covered dish. Santa Claus will also be there. Contact 706-359-3445 for more information.

Student early release
Students at LCES will be released at 11:15 a.m. Fri., Dec. 19. Students at LCMS/LCHS will be released at 11:30 a.m. Buses will depart from the LCMS/LCHS campus at approximately 11:30 a.m.
Mr. LCMS contest
The annual Mr. LCMS Contest, sponsored by the LCMS Student Council, will be held on Monday, February 2. The contest is open to all boys who attend Lincoln County Middle School. Entry fee is $30. Entry deadline is Fri., Jan. 16. Applications may be picked up in the middle school office or from Mrs. Christie Bryan. EPO at Ebenezer
The 146th Annual Emancipation Proclamation Observance will be held Thurs., Jan. 1, 10 a.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church. The guest will be Roy Smith, Jr., mayor of McCormick, S.C. The public is invited to attend.
Tree of Remembrance
The Lincoln County Historical Society Tree of Remembrance committee will be taking donations of $1 "In Honor" or "In Memory" of a family member or loved one through Dec. 24. The tree is located at the intersection of Peachtree and Main Streets. Donation sheets can be found at City Pharmacy, C & B Drug Co. or Jericho Florist. Mail donations to Laura Spratlin, P. O. Spring trip
Spring Break Florida Trip - 2009. If you are planning on traveling with us to Florida in 2009, please call ASAP to get your name on the list. We will have a smaller bus (33 Seats) next year and seats will be on a first comefirst served basis. Watch Night Service
First Baptist Church will have a Watch Night Service Dec. 31 beginning at 9 p.m. Rev. Alvin Rivers and St. Luke Baptist Church will be in charge of the service. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor. The public is invited to attend.
Live Christmas music
Hickory Knobb State Resort Park will have live Christmas music provided by local talent in the Great Room at the lodge on Fri., Dec. 19 from 6 - 9 p.m.
In addition the Guillebeau House is open for tours nightly from 6 - 9 p.m. until Dec. 21st. For your dining pleasure the restaurant is open from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m. nightly.
