Devils put up the yards but Wesleyan gets the score 20-12

STACY McCLENDON CATCHES AS PASS AND HEADS DOWNFIELD Both the Devils and the Wolves relied heavily on their passing games last Friday.
The Lincoln County High School Red Devils played in their last game of the season on Friday, December 3, 2008. The team traveled to Norcross, Georgia, to play in the Georgia High School Association State semifinals against the Wesleyanmanuel County Institute Bulldogs.

The Devils took the opening kickoff, returning the ball to the 40-yard line. From there, Bo Reed put the ball in A.G. Middlebrooks' hands  moved the ball to the Wesleyan 40-. penalty put the ball on the 47, and an incomplete pass put on some pressure. The Devils punted the ball, and the defense kept them from crossing centerfield. The Wolves  failing to make a key conversion. .

Devils lined up to start their second  the ball carrier on the only play of the drive. He broke past the entire defensive line and scored a 75-yard quarter.

The Devils' defense held, stopping a 25-yard pass on the drive's to gain any yardage up the middle on the next drive, and the Wolves'

THE DEVIL DEFENSE KEPT WESLEYAN'S RUNNING GAME IN CHECK But the Wolves scored three times with passes to the end zone.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Wolves retaliated for the Dev- three plays. The Wolves drove from near midfield to the Red Devils' and one run from the quarterback. From there, Wesleyan had to dig in  McGahee and DeTravis Hearst putting pressure on the line. The Wolves scored on a six-yard pass and failed on their PAT conversion attempt,  the half.

STEVEN MORRIS GOES WIDE TO AVOID A WESLEYAN TACKLER The Devils out-rushed the Wolves 152-106 in last Friday semifinal playoff game.
The Devils took the kickoff on the exception of a pass from Reed. John Wheeler, a professor of criminal justice, once said "if you're going to be a bear, be a grizzly bear."

The Wolves received the kickoff for the second half and returned it to their 22-yard line. From there they Wesleyan PAT kick succeeded.

The Devils seemed to be on the brink of taking the lead late in the third quarter. The Wolves took the  left in the quarter and began another drive. A pass to the 35-yard line moved the Wolves close to scoring  and after an impressive drive, the  good, and the score moved to 20-  the game despite a strong effort by the Red Devils to make a late-game comeback.
