Board of elections meetings
The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.
SALS to meet
The Sons of the American Legion Squadron 194 will meet on December 9, 2008 at the post home. We are asking all members to please attend meeting.
Assessors meetings
The Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors will hold its meeting at 4 p.m., in the Tax Assessor's office at 182 Humphrey St. Upcoming monthly meeting is December 16.
Letters from Santa
Your child can receive a letter from Santa encouraging their continued good behavior this year. Simply drop off a $4 donation to The Alzheimer's Association, the child's name, age, address and something special they're hoping for this year, at the Lincoln County Public Library between now and Dec. 19.
Enjoy seeing the excitement on the child's face when they receive their very own letter from Santa and help support a good cause at the same time!
Heating assistance
The Lincoln County Community Partnership will be taking applications for heating assistance at The Lincoln Center on Thursday, December 11 from 11 to 4 and Friday, Dec. 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information call 706-359-5769.
Choral anniversary Harmony Baptist Church Choir will be celebrating its Fifth Choral Anniversary on Sun., Dec. 7, at 3 p.m. All are invited and welcomed to come help us lift up the name of Jesus in song! Rev. Freddie Neal, Sr. is pastor.
Holiday parade
Holidays in Olde Lincoln Towne, hosted by the Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce will be held Dec. 6, 2008, 1 - 10 p.m. Extended shopping hours; live entertainment - all day; Holiday Parade - 4:30 p.m.; tree lighting and carols - 7 p.m.; street dance - 8 p.m.; numerous craft and food vendors; children's rides and games. Fun for all ages!!

Candlelight service Harmony Baptist Church Missionary Ministry will be hosting its annual Missionary Candlelight Service on Sun., Dec. 21, at 5 p.m. Rev. Enoch Ward, Jr. and First Metropolitan Baptist Church in Augusta will be in charge of the service. All are invited and welcomed - come and be blessed. Rev. Freddie Neal, Sr. is pastor.
Bingo is Friday
Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo. For more information, contact (706) 359-3445.
Dinner at Post 194
Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.
Christmas Cantata First Assembly of God will present its Christmas Cantata, "The Name. Jesus" on Sun., Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. and Mon., Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. The cantata will feature the adult sanctuary choir, a children's choir and drama. Night to Remember
The first Night to Remember will be held Tues., Jan. 20, 7 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church. If you have had a loved one pass and want to attend an uplifting evening for remembrance, mark your calendars. Refreshments will be served. If you would like a luminary placed for your loved one, please call the New Hope Baptist Church office at 706-359- 4580 and allow us the pleasure to provide one for you at no cost.
Christmas angel
If you are looking for the perfect Christmas gift, go to the Tax Commissioner's office. Concrete Christmas angels and Ga. Tech banners will make just the right stocking stuffer. All money from the sale of these items will go toward Relay for Life.
Fireproof your relationships Fireproof Your Relationships, the first of two sessions will be held Sat., Dec. 13, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church. A love offering will be taken for materials and refreshments will be served. Space is limited so please call the church office at 706-359-4580 to reserve your space. A nursery will be provided.
Auxiliary to meet
The Ladies Auxilary will hold their monthly meeting at the Post home on Thursday, December 11 at 7:30 pm. Please remember to bring your Christmas gift for the Party and your food pantry items.
Census jobs
The US Census Bureau is now hiring! They will be taking applications and testing on Thurs., Dec. 11, 10 a.m. at the Lincoln County Library, 181 Peachtree St. For more information, please call 1-866-861-2010.
Secret Santa
With Christmas right around the corner, Huddle House is gearing up for another successful year of Secret Santa. You may begin dropping off your toys for children early this year. For every new, unwrapped toy valued at $25 or more, the child will also receive a free meal.
Young Miss Pageant
The Lincoln Young Miss Pageant will be held on January 29th, 2009 at 7pm in the LCHS auditorium.
Girls in grades K-5 and living in LC, attending school in LC, or have parents working in LC are eligible.
The entry fee is $30 and due to FBLA by January 16th. Forms will be sent to the Elementary School in December and will be available in the school offices.

Tuesday prayer
True Fellowship invites everyone to prayer each Tuesday 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Bishop James Ware is pastor. The 23rd Pastoral Anniversary of Toys for Tots November is our official Toys For Tots kickoff, please join us here at Michelle's Pizza and help us make this holiday season a little happier for our local children. We will start accepting new unwrapped toys at our location on Hwy. 378 West, McCormick, Nov. 6 - Dec. 15 or later if necessary.
We would also like to thank everyone who participated last year and made the Toys for Tots program such a success.

Flu vaccine avail
Flu vaccine is now available at the Lincoln County Health Dept. Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The charge is $25 cash, Medicare Part B or Medicaid. If you will be using your Medicare or Medicaid card for your method of payment and you have a primary insurance plan, please be prepared to present both cards.
Power wheelchairs
The Senior Wheels USA Program makes available power wheelchairs to senior citizens and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify.
The power wheelchairs are provided to those who can no longer walk safely, nor self-propel a manual wheelchair, and who meet the additional guidelines of the program.

Tutoring available
Peer tutoring is available after school on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. Interested students should contact Regina Reed at 706-359-3121. Teachers are also available before and after school to assist students in different academic subjects.
Fund set up
A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to aid the Beggs family.
The funds collected will help defray medical expenses associated with the cancer treatment and meet the needs of the Beggs family.
Contributions to the Beggs Fund may be made at the bank during regular business hours or by using the night depository. Donations may also be mailed to the bank at P.O. Box 99, Lincolnton, Georgia, 30817. Please remember to write " Lyndsie Beggs Fund" on the envelope.
