Mathews reports on political rally

JB Mathews, Lincoln County Coordinator for Saxby '08 attended the political rally held in Augusta on Monday, December 1 which included as one of the event speakers Gov. Sarah Palin.

Mathews reports on the meeting as follows: one day prior to the Senate run-off vote, Senator Saxby Chambliss, Gov. Sarah Palin, and an entourage of political leaders from state and local levels thrilled a large crowd of 3 to 4,000 people from the Augusta area.

Included on the stage with Chambliss and Palin were political leaders representing Lincoln County at various levels, namely: Gov. Perdue, Senator Isakson, State Representative Anderson, and State Senator Jackson; along with political representatives of other counties.

Governor Perdue and a few others made brief comments in support of Saxby and described the importance of this particular run-off election. But most of the time was devoted to Chambliss and Palin.

Senator Chambliss reviewed his philosophy of Republican conservatism and moral values. Sarah Palin strongly and vividly emphasized certain aspects of Republican conservatism: low taxes, small government, strong national defense, and liberty.

The audience responded very enthusiastically to the speakers and engaged them energetically afterwards

The Lincoln County Planning Com- mission will hold all its regularly scheduled meetings in the Planning and Zoning Conference Room located at 107 Perryman Avenue unless otherwise advertised. The meeting date is Dec. 8.
