Board of elections meetings The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted. Usher anniversary Pleasant Grove CME Church will celebrate its usher anniversary Nov. 23 at 3 p.m. Rev. Sim Murray will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited. Class of 78 reunion "What happens in Las Vegas, stays in Las Vegas!" The theme remix for the Class of 1978, 30th class reunion. The celebration will be held Nov. 29, 7 p.m. at the home of Syvaleen Norman Murray and Charlie Murray. All Letters from Santa Your child can receive a letter from Santa encouraging their continued good behavior this year. Simply drop off a $4 donation to The Alzheimer's Association, the child's name, age, address and something special they're hoping for this year, at the Lincoln County Public Library between now and Dec. 19. Enjoy seeing the excitement on the child's face when they receive their very own letter from Santa and help support a good cause at the same time! Lewis, Longs to perform Little Roy Lewis, Lizzie and Rebecca Long and friends will be picking and singing at Metasville School House on Thanksgiving night, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m. Rehoboth Church ladies will furnish refreshments. The public is invited. Choral anniversary Harmony Baptist Church Choir will be celebrating its Fifth Choral Anniversary on Sun., Dec. 7, at 3 p.m. All are invited and welcomed to come help us lift up the name of Jesus in song! Meal and festival Come join Loco Baptist Church for our Thanksgiving meal and Fall Festival on Nov. 23 at 6 p.m. Dinner at Post 194 Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal. CCLC talks antiques The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will meet Thurs., Nov. 20, 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library. Introduction to American antiques, American brilliant cut glass will be on the agenda. Everyone is welcome. Come and be a part of the CCLC. Candlelight service Harmony Baptist Church Missionary Ministry will be hosting its annual Missionary Candlelight Service on Sun., Dec. 21, at 5 p.m. Rev. Assessors meetings The Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors will hold its meeting at 4 p.m., in the Tax Assessor's office at 182 Humphrey St. Upcoming monthly meeting dates include: November 18, December 16. Bingo is Friday Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo. For more information, contact (706) 359-3445. Young Miss Pageant to be held Jan. 29 The Lincoln Young Miss Pageant will be held on January 29th, 2009 at 7pm in the LCHS auditorium. Girls in grades K-5 and living in LC, attending school in LC, or have parents working in LC are eligible. The entry fee is $30 and due to FBLA by January 16th. Holiday parade Holidays in Olde Lincoln Towne, hosted by the Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce will be held Dec. 6, 2008, 1 - 10 p.m. Extended shopping hours; live entertainment - all day; Holiday Parade - 4:30 p.m.; tree lighting and carols - 7 p.m.; street dance - 8 p.m.; numerous craft and food vendors; children's rides and games. Class reunion The class of 1973 is having its 35th reunion Nov. 29, 7 p.m. at The Lincoln Center. The classes of 1972 and 1974 are also invited to attend. Power wheelchairs The Senior Wheels USA Program makes available power wheelchairs to senior citizens and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify. The power wheelchairs are provided to those who can no longer walk safely, nor self-propel a manual wheelchair, and who meet the additional guidelines of the program. Miss LCHS pageant The Miss LCHS pageant will be Dec. 4 in the LCHS Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Brad Means will be the Emcee. The $40 entry fee and form deadline is noon, Nov. 20. Toys for Tots November is our official Toys For Tots kickoff, please join us here at Michelle's Pizza and help us make this holiday season a little happier for our local children. Concert Nov. 22 A Blues-Be-Bop-Funk-Rock-Soul- Latin and Swing Program by the Augusta State University Conservatory Jazz Band will be held Sat., Nov. 22, 7:30 p.m. at Grover C. Special guest will be Rev. Arthur Carson of Springfield Baptist Church in Atlanta, Ga. Everyone is invited. Pioneer Day Nov. 22 Pioneer Day at the Historical Park is November 22. Ready for a hot apple fritter and a cup of coffee? It's that time again, well almost. Pioneer Day 2008 planning has begun. Last year 3,000 people came to Lincolnton for a day of good clean family fun and this year it is going to be even bigger. Space is limited for vendors. Do you have historical skill or craft that you'd like to share? Chair caning, soap making, basket weaving, bee keeping, pottery, corn shuck dolls or the like? This year The Historical Society is going to showcase some of Lincoln County's best kept secrets in these areas. Stay tuned to The Lincoln Journal for details. And of course, there will be free cotton candy for children of all ages. Musical anniversary The Martin A. Secret Santa With Christmas right around the corner, Huddle House is gearing up for another successful year of Secret Santa. You may begin dropping off your toys for children early this year. All persons that usually report on Thursday, your date has been changed to Mon., Nov. 24 for this week. We will be open the regular hours 9 a.m. - 12 noon on Nov. 24. Costume contest The Lincoln County Historical Society reminds Pioneer Day goers that they will have a costume contest as part of the festivities. Fund set up A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to aid the Beggs family. The funds collected will help defray medical expenses associated with the cancer treatment and meet the needs of the Beggs family. Contributions to the Beggs Fund may be made at the bank during regular business hours or by using the night depository. Donations may also be mailed to the bank at P.O.
