Charlie Marvin "C. M." Kinney, 92, husband of Sarah Spires Harrison Kinney, entered into rest Sunday, November 9, 2008 at Wesley Commons.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12 at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Richard W. Waldrep and David Templeton officiating. Burial followed at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Pine Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery in Lincolnton.

Born in Lincolnton, he was a son of the late Joe L. and Mamie Holsomback Kinney. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He retired from Greenwood Mills after 34 years of service, where he was a member of Quarter Century Club, and later retired as a carpenter. He was a member of Lowell Street United Methodist Church and the Men's Bible Class.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jewell Kinney; his two sisters and his five brothers.

Surviving are his wife of 68 years; a daughter, Bonnie McCombs and her husband, Larry, of Greenwood, S.C.; a stepson, Gary Harrison and his wife, Mary, of Greenwood; three grandsons, Travis McCombs, Thomas McCombs and Martin Harrison; and six great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were nephews. Honorary escort was the members of the Men's Bible Class of Lowell Street United Methodist Church and former members of the Men's Bible Class of Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church.
