Board of elections meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Usher anniversary "What happens in Las Vegas, stays Pleasant Grove CME Church will celebrate its usher anniversary Nov. 23 at 3 p.m. Rev. Sim Murray will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited.

Class of 78 reunion

The Lincoln County Republican Party will meet Nov. 18, 7 p.m. at the library.

CCLC talks antiques

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County will meet Thurs., Nov. 20, 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Public Library. Introduction to American antiques, American brilliant cut glass will be on the agenda. Everyone is welcome.

Dinner at Post 194

Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.

Holiday parade

Holidays in Olde Lincoln Towne, hosted by the Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce will be held Dec. 6, 2008, 1 - 10 p.m. Extended shopping hours; live entertainment - all day; Holiday Parade - 4:30 p.m.; tree lighting and carols - 7 p.m.; street dance - 8 p.m.; numerous craft and food vendors; children's rides and games. Fun for all ages!!

Assessors meetings

The Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors will hold its meeting at 4 p.m., in the Tax Assessor's office at 182 Humphrey St. Upcoming monthly meeting dates include: November 18, December 16.

LWREA to meet

The Lincoln-Wilkes Retired Educators Association (LWREA) will meet at 11 a.m., Thurs., Nov. 13 at the Lincoln County Board of Education, 423 Metasville Rd. All members are asked to be present.

Ministry anniversary

Tabernacle Baptist Church, Hwy. 220, will celebrate its Annual Women Ministry Anniversary Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. Elder Joyce Heard will be the guest speaker. Everyone is invited to worship and fellowship with us.

Bingo is Friday

Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo. For more information, contact (706) 359-3445.

Miss LCHS pageant

The Miss LCHS pageant will be Dec. 4 in the LCHS Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Brad Means will be the Emcee. The $40 entry fee and form deadline is noon, Nov. 20. Tutoring available

Peer tutoring is available after school on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. Interested students should contact Regina Reed at 706-359-3121. Teachers are also available before and after school to assist students in different academic subjects.

Planning meetings

The Lincoln County Planning Commission will hold all its regularly scheduled meetings in the Planning and Zoning Conference Room located at 107 Perryman Avenue unless otherwise advertised. The meeting date is Dec. 8.

Power wheelchairs

The Senior Wheels USA Program makes available power wheelchairs to senior citizens and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify.

The power wheelchairs are provided to those who can no longer walk safely, nor self-propel a manual wheelchair, and who meet the additional guidelines of the program.

If the patient's need is for use in the home, please call for more information to see if they qualify. Call toll free at 1-800-246-6010.

Pastor anniversary

Parks Grove FBH Church will celebrate Pastor Tonita Cody's 10th anniversary on Sun., Nov. 23, 4 p.m. at The Lincoln Center.

Special guest will be Rev. Arthur Carson of Springfield Baptist Church in Atlanta, Ga. Everyone is invited.

Toys for Tots

November is our official Toys For Tots kickoff, please join us here at Michelle's Pizza and help us make this holiday season a little happier for our local children. We will start accepting new unwrapped toys at our location on Hwy. 378 West, McCormick, Nov. 6 - Dec. 15 or later if necessary.

We would also like to thank everyone who participated last year and made the Toys for Tots program such a success.

Class reunion

The class of 1973 is having its 35th reunion Nov. 29, 7 p.m. at The Lincoln Center. The classes of 1972 and 1974 are also invited to attend.

Revival services

Morningside Baptist Church will hold revival services Sun., Nov. 16 - Wed., Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. nightly with Dr. Wayne Hamrick as guest preacher.

Dr. Hamrick has served as a pastor and evangelist for more than forty years. He is a former president of the Georgia Baptist Convention and served as chairman of the trustees of Lifeway Resources.

Flu vaccine avail

Flu vaccine is now available at the Lincoln County Health Dept. Mon. - Fri., 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The charge is $25 cash, Medicare Part B or Medicaid. If you will be using your Medicare or Medicaid card for your method of payment and you have a primary insurance plan, please be prepared to present both cards.

Concert Nov. 22

A Blues-Be-Bop-Funk-Rock-Soul- Latin and Swing Program by the Augusta State University Conservatory Jazz Band will be held Sat., Nov. 22, 7:30 p.m. at Grover C. Maxwell Performing Arts Theatre. Admission is free.

Musical anniversary

The Martin A. Searles Male Chorus of Mulberry CME Church invites everyone to their 2008 Annual Musical Anniversary on Sun., Nov. 23 beginning at 2:30 p.m. Groups and soloists from the CSRA and other areas will provide inspirational gospel singing for your enjoyment. Pioneer Day Nov. 22

Pioneer Day at the Historical Park is November 22. Ready for a hot apple fritter and a cup of coffee? It's that time again, well almost.

Pioneer Day 2008 planning has begun. Last year 3,000 people came to Lincolnton for a day of good clean family fun and this year it is going to be even bigger. Space is limited for vendors. Do you have historical skill or craft that you'd like to share? Chair caning, soap making, basket weaving, bee keeping, pottery, corn shuck dolls or the like? This year The Historical Society is going to showcase some of Lincoln County's best kept secrets in these areas.

Stay tuned to The Lincoln Journal for details. And of course, there will be free cotton candy for children of all ages.

Choir anniversary

First Baptist Church Gospel Choir will have its choir anniversary Sat., Nov. 15 at 5:30 p.m. All area choirs are invited along with the public. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

Auxiliary to meet

The Ladies Auxiliary Unit 194 will hold its monthly meeting Thurs., Nov. 13 at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend and new members are welcome. Please remember to bring items for the food pantry.

Secret Santa

With Christmas right around the corner, Huddle House is gearing up for another successful year of Secret Santa. You may begin dropping off your toys for children early this year. For every new, unwrapped toy valued at $25 or more, the child will also receive a free meal.

Revival at Jones

Revival services will be held at Jones Chapel Sun., Nov. 16 - Wed., Nov. 19 with Evangelist Milton Martin. Services will begin on Sun. at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., and on Mon. - Wed. at 7 p.m. nightly.

Jones Chapel is located at 2322 Thomson Hwy. in Lincolnton.

Pantry holiday hours

The Lincoln County Food Pantry will be closed Thurs., Nov. 27 for Thanksgiving. All persons that usually report on Thursday, your date has been changed to Mon., Nov. 24 for this week.

We will be open the regular hours 9 a.m. - 12 noon on Nov. 24.

Vintage cars wanted

Everyone is encouraged to bring your old restored car, truck or tractor to the antique car show at Pioneer Day to be held Nov. 22.

Accepting applications

CSRA EOA, Inc. Head Start are accepting applications for children who turned three years old by Sept. 1. Applications can be obtained at Lincoln County Head Start, 576 Metasville Rd., Lincolnton, (706- 359-5190) Mon. - Fri. from 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.

The following information is requested to process the application: certified birth certificate, child immunization certificate shot record, and verification of income.

Costume contest

The Lincoln County Historical Society reminds Pioneer Day goers that they will have a costume contest as part of the festivities.

GED/Adult classes
