Poker Run and Trail Ride will benefit Freeman A "Poker Run & Trail Ride" for bikers and cowboys will be held Saturday, November 8, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Bussey Point Recreation Area to benefit Gena Tankersley Freeman, who suffered a stroke earlier this year. The cost to participate in the event is $20 per rider, which includes one poker hand and a door prize ticket. Prizes will be awarded for the following: Best Hand, $400; Second- Best Hand, $100; Third-Best Hand, $50; and Worst Hand, $50. Moreover, $100 will be given to the individual traveling the furthest distance to Bussey Point. Equestrians should note that a negative Coggins Test and out-of-state health papers are required. Water will be available on the premises. In addition to the motorcycles and horses, the event will also feature a silent auction, plenty of door prizes, a 50/50 drawing, barbecued chicken plates, and music by DJ Jason Crook. Riders and non-riders alike are encouraged to come out to the Bussey Point Recreation Area on Saturday and enjoy the glorious fall weather, the delicious food, and the wonderful fellowship, while helping raise funds to defray Freeman's medical costs. Owned and operated by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Bussey Point is a 2,545-acre, mul- tiple-use recreation area situated at the end of Double Branches Road. The peninsula is heavily forested and contains abundant wildlife; it likewise boasts 32.5 miles of shoreline and nine miles of trails winding through a natural forest setting. For those wishing to make a weekend of it, primitive camping sites are available on a first come, first served basis.
