TO THE EDITOR

I have lived in Lincoln County for 22 years. Don't bother looking for my road on a county map, all you will find are lines on the map. Fishing Creek Subdivision, 1076 Third St., is not there.

Although I have been upgraded to an "FL," I still get my mail from Tignall. I pay taxes that keep getting higher each year in Lincoln County, but I get none of the benefits of fine lake living. What lake?

I have battled the county road department for years to do something to the roads here. Twenty years ago after the school bus kept getting stuck in the mud, they did add more fine red Georgia clay. That took a neighborhood petition to get the work done.

Ten years ago we got together and hounded them to scrap and add crush-n-run, begrudgingly they did. But now the crush-n-run has been scrapped into the ditches and trees.

They pave roads in the southern part, but act like the northern part does not exist! I'm sick and tired of paying taxes and getting nothing in return except empty promises.

I guess all I can do is ask my fellow citizens to join me in demanding the county start treating all county taxpayers listed on the map or not, with the respect and dignity we deserve. I feel another petition coming on!
