The "Third Annual Haunted Halloween Spooktacular" will be held Saturday, November 1, beginning at 7 p.m. at the home of Ernie and Renee Guthrie on Goshen Street. As an added twist, participants are asked to bring canned goods to the festivities to help stock the Lincoln County Food Pantry for the holidays. The "Third Annual Haunted Halloween Spooktacular" will be held Saturday, November 1, beginning at 7 p.m. at the "Eerie Guts House" also known as the home of Ernie and Renee Guthrie at 125 Goshen Street.
Among the new twists this year is a canned food drive to help stock the Lincoln County Food Pantry for the holidays. Volunteers are reporting that food supplies are running low.
Local residents are urged to open their cupboards and/or pocketbooks to help the less fortunate in the county, especially during these difficult economic times.
The Halloween Spooktacular, which is for both children and adults, promises to be even bigger and better than in years past. The event will feature:
.. A specially-constructed haunted house, with plenty of ghoulish vol- unteers on hand to keep the line moving at a brisk pace. Guests are asked to enter from the back of the building.
.. Free food.
.. A bonfire.
.. A hayride through "The Pumpkin Patch" for the smaller children.
.. A "Best-Carved Pumpkin Contest" and a "Largest Pumpkin Contest." Entries must be dropped off for judging by 6 p.m. Moreover, cash prizes will be awarded in each class.
.. A DJ and plenty of music.
Members of the community are heartily encouraged to drop by the Guthrie home on Saturday and take part in all the fun.
Everything is free.
In his comments, Mr. Guthrie said, "Come one, come all -- you'll wish you hadn't!"
