McWhorter, Broom crowned Homecoming Queen, Princess
Lindsey McWhorter (l) was crowned Homecoming Queen and Amanda Broom, Homecoming Princess, during homecoming festivities held at Buddy Bufford Field Thursday, October 23. Lindsey McWhorter was crowned LCHS Homecoming Queen when the Red Devils met Hancock Central at Buddy Bufford Field Thursday, October 23.
She is the daughter of Denise and Price McWhorter.
Amanda Broom, who is the daughter of Heather and Casey Broom, was crowned Homecoming Princess.
The two young ladies were crowned by Madison Saggus, last year's Homecoming Princess. Kitty Ball, the 2007 Homecoming Queen, was unable to attend the ceremony because she is serving our country as a student at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
The queen's crown was a gift from Tena's Jewelry and Gift Shop in Washington.
Other members of the 2008 Homecoming Court, presented during the special halftime show, were:
Senior Class Representatives: Bree- Anna Banks, daughter or Pamela and Johnnie Banks; Hillary Doss, daughter of Mandy and Ernie Doss; Latoya Harris, daughter of Peggy and Ronald Harris; Breauna Jenkins, daughter of Sharon Clark and Lorenzo Jenkins; DeAna Parks, daughter of Bobbie Mercier; Ashley Rivera, daughter of Betty and Rafael Rivera; and Matilda Watson, daughter of Claire and Aaron Watson.
`Junior Class Representatives: Audra Bradford, daughter of Maria and Bill Bradford, and Alisha Brown, daughter of Kelly Jones and Tim Brown.
Sophomore Class Representatives: Brittany Perkins, daughter of Laura and Emerson Perkins, and Tiara Wynn, daughter of Aretha Clark and Toland Wynn.
Freshman Class Representatives: Hannah Bryant, daughter of Stacy and Shane Bryant, and Hannah Hollimon, daughter of Vicki and Terrell Hollimon.
Concerning other homecoming festivities, the overall "Spirit Week" winner was announced Friday afternoon. The winner was selected on the basis of class participation in "Dress Days," an activity designed to help get students into the spirit of homecoming.
This year's overall Spirit Week winner was the Senior Class.
A breakdown of the Dress Days winners is as follows: Monday, "College T-Shirt Day," the Senior Class; Tuesday, "Wacky, Tacky Day," the Freshman Class; Wednesday, "Class T-Shirt Day," the Freshman Class; Thursday, "Red Devil Spirit Day," the Senior Class; and Friday, "Guess Who Day," the Sophomore Class.
To top off the week, a Homecoming Dance was held in the school caf- eteria immediately following the game. During the course of the evening, Daravious Cullars was crowned Homecoming King, and Garrett Matthews, Homecoming Prince.
All homecoming activities were sponsored by the LCHS Student Council.
In her comments, Dana Brennan, student council advisor, expressed her appreciation to all those who participated in the various homecoming activities and helped make the week a success. She extended a special thank-you to Tena's Jewelry & Gift Shop, Jericho Florist, Terri Long at Get Personal, and Jason Crook.
