Public invited to hear Eric Krug speak at LCHS
The public is invited to attend a presentation by Eric Krug, a former baseball player, and his mother, Joyce Krug, at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, in the LCHS Auditorium.
The program is being sponsored by SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) in conjunction with Red Ribbon Week, October 23- 31.
According to Regina Reid, club advisor and graduation coach at LCHS, "Eric's life was changed forever when he and one of his teammates decided to get into a car with a drunk driver at the wheel. The drunk driver crashed into a tree, killing Eric's teammate and living him in a coma for more than a year."
Krug's mission now is to save lives by sharing his powerful and inspirational story at high schools, colleges, churches, and military bases throughout the state. Since he has lost the ability to speak, his mother is his voice.
"We hope that this presentation will steer our students away from drunk driving and other destructive decisions that may have a negative effect on their lives and future endeavors," said Reid.
Formerly known as Students Against Driving Drunk, SADD is a peer leadership organization, whose mission is: "To provide students with the best prevention and intervention tools possible to deal with the issues of underage drinking, drug use, impaired driving, and other destructive decisions."
In addition to Reid, Brittany Barden and Jerri Tutt, both teachers at LCHS, also serve as advisors for the club.
