An open house to discuss a project proposed by the Georgia Department of Transportation (DOT) will be held Tuesday, October 28, between 4 and 7 p.m. at LCHS.

The purpose of the open house is to give the public an opportunity to ask questions and comment on the proposed redirection of a portion of State Route 79 in Lincoln County.

In essence, the DOT plans to reroute Highway 79 down New Petersburg Road to US 378.

Local residents interested in learning more about the project are encouraged to attend the open house, view the various displays, talk with DOT representatives, and provide written comments for consideration.

Following the meeting, handouts will be available online at www.dot.ga.gov (select General Public, then Public Involvement).

"We are eager to hear the viewpoints and concerns of all area residents," said Tony Collins, district engineer for the DOT. "The Georgia DOT encourages all interested parties to attend the open house to offer input on the project."

The DOT is committed to providing a safe, seamless, and sustainable transportation system that supports Georgia's economy and is sensitive to both the citizens and the environment.
