Pumpkin drop at First Assembly
It's a bird…it's a plane…it's 600 pumpkins falling from the sky!
"The Great Pumpkin Drop" is scheduled to take place in conjunction with the Community Fall Festival, which will be held Saturday, October 25, from 4 to 7 p.m. at First Assembly of God on the Thomson Highway.
These are not ordinary pumpkins. Inside the orange orbs, children and teenagers will find gift cards, movie tickets, prizes, cash, and candy.
In addition to the pumpkins, there will also be carnival games, a giant 22-foot slide, and a chili cook-off, with $50 going to the winner. Samples of the chili will be available for the brave and stout of stomach.
Festival goers may likewise enjoy free hotdogs, nachos, popcorn, boiled peanuts, and soft drinks.
"We encourage children of all ages to come out and enjoy the food, fellowship, games, and of course, the pumpkins," said Chip Woodall, the church's minister of children and students. "It will be a great time to meet new friends as well as get reacquainted with old ones."
The event will be held rain or shine.
