Community Calendar

Board of elections meetings

The regular meetings of the Lincoln County Board of Elections and Voter Registration will be held the fourth Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. The meetings will be held at the Board of Elections, The Lincoln Center, 160 May Ave., Lincolnton, Ga. Any changes to the scheduled dates or alternate dates for meetings occurring on holidays will be posted.

Dinner served

Dinner served at American Legion Post 194 every Wed. night at 6:30 p.m. and Fri. at 7 p.m. Wednesday's menu changes weekly. Every Friday is steak night. A large variety salad bar, shrimp cocktail, baked potato, bread, dessert and ice tea are included with steak. Come out and join us for a delicious meal.

Donations welcomed

The Lincoln County Food Pantry welcomes contributions. Your donations are tax deductible. You may mail your contributions to: The Lincoln County Food Pantry, P.O. Box 473, Lincolnton, GA 30817. Thank you for your support.

Miss LCHS pageant

The Miss LCHS pageant will be Dec. 4 in the LCHS Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Brad Means will be the Emcee. The $40 entry fee and form deadline is noon, Nov. 20. Womens conference

Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries will have its Third Annual Womens Conference Oct. 11 at 10 a.m. with Bishop Mattie Robinson, pastor of One In Christ of Augusta, Ga. and at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tonita Cody of Parks Grove FBH Church in Lincolnton.

All ladies are invited to attend. Rev. Peggy W. Zellars is pastor.

Fall Festival

Lincolnton Baptist Church will be holding its Fall Festival on Sunday, October 19 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for kids ages K- 6th grade.

They are calling on all super sleuths to help them track down the evidence for who Jesus is and what He's done for us.

Bring a friend and enjoy the games, prizes, activities and hot dog and chili supper. Don't miss this fun filled way to discover Jesus!

There will be a special play area for children ages 4 years and under.

Meet the candidates

The Concerned Citizens of Lincoln County have invited local candidates, Joe Banks, Bruce Beggs, Wade Johnson, Gerald S. Lawson, Lee Moss, and Walker Norman to speak at the Lincoln County Library Annex on Thurs., Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m.

Please attend this very important meeting and listen to our candidates as they present their platforms for improving Lincoln County and be prepared to vote for the best candidate on Nov. 4.

Christmas kids

Appointment times are Tues., Oct. 21 from 3:30 until 7:30; Wed. & Thurs. will be from 2:30 until 7:30 p.m.

GED/Adult classes

Augusta Technical College and Lincoln County Family Connection are offering GED/Adult Literacy classes on Mon., Tues., and Thurs. from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Wed., from 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. For more information, please call 706-359-3425 or 706-359-5769.

Assessors meetings

The Lincoln County Board of Tax Assessors will hold its meeting at 4 p.m., in the Tax Assessor's office at 182 Humphrey St. Upcoming monthly meeting dates include: October 21, November 18, December 16.

Support group meeting

Is Tourette's Syndrome more than you can handle? Are you tired and alone? Mothers, fathers, and grandparents of children with Tourette's Syndrome are invited to attend support group meetings at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 11, and Nov. 8 at the Vineyard Church of Augusta, 3126 Parrish Road, Augusta Ga. Pastor celebration

Faith Tabernacle Church will have its pastor celebration for Pastor Delcinia M. Jamison Oct. 12 at 11 a.m. A pre-celebration will be held Oct. 8 - 9 at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to help them celebrate this joyous occasion.

Church anniversary

Mt. Zion Baptist Church will celebrate its 137 anniversary Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. Guest speaker will be Rev. Larry Norman, pastor of Flint Hill Baptist Church, Washington, Ga. His church will be in charge of the services. Brother Drake will be the MC. Rev. Robert L. Crawford is pastor.

Men's March for Christ

First Baptist Church will have a Men's March for Christ Service Oct. 26 at 5:30 p.m. Deacon Emmanuel Acree of Bookers Chapel Church will be the guest speaker. Music will be rendered. The public is invited.

Musical program

First Baptist Church will have a musical program Nov. 1 at 5:30 p.m. with a lot of good singing. The public is invited.

State Missions Service

New Work Baptist Church will be having its State Missions Worship Service Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. Alice White of Savannah, Ga. will be the guest speaker. There will a time of fellowship following the service.

Bingo is Friday

Bingo is played at the American Legion Post 194, Lincolnton, Georgia, every Friday at 7:30 p.m. A snack bar is operated by the Ladies Auxiliary available during bingo. For more information, contact (706) 359-3445.

Pastor's anniversary

The Youth Ministry of First Baptist Church of Lincolnton will hold a Pre- Pastor's Anniversary Oct. 27-31 at 7:30 p.m. with different speakers each night.

Everyone is invited to come out and help celebrate this special occasion. Rev. Dennis Quinn is pastor.

Planning meetings

The Lincoln County Planning Commission will hold all its regularly scheduled meetings in the Planning and Zoning Conference Room located at 107 Perryman Avenue unless otherwise advertised. The meeting dates are:: Nov. 10 and Dec. 8.

Women's retreat

Lincoln County Christian Women's Retreat at Camp Daniel Marshall Nov. 7-9, 2008. Deadline for registration is Oct. 6, 2008. Cost - $65. Any questions, contact Sheila Davis at 359- 3206. Everyone is invited!

Headquarters open

The Republican Headquarters (old Badcock building) will be open to the citizens of Lincoln County from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Thursdays and 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Saturdays.

Hurley to speak

Rev. Joseph Hurley, of Washington, will be the guest speaker at True Fellowship Church on Oct. 12 at 3:30 p.m. The community is invited. Bishop James Ware is pastor.

SALS to meet

Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 194, will have its meeting Oct. 14, 7:30 p.m., at the post home. All members are asked to please attend this very important meeting.

Benefit barbecue

New Work Baptist Church Brotherhood's third annual benefit barbecue will be held Sat., Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Plates will cost $8 each and consist of barbecue, hash and rice, slaw, baked beans, bread, tea and pound cake and may be picked up at New Work Baptist Church.

Proceeds will benefit the community through Brotherhood projects.

Tuesday prayer

True Fellowship invites everyone to prayer each Tuesday 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Bishop James Ware is pastor.

Power wheelchairs

The Senior Wheels USA Program makes available power wheelchairs to senior citizens and the permanently disabled at no cost to the recipient, if they qualify.

The power wheelchairs are provided to those who can no longer walk safely, nor self-propel a manual wheelchair, and who meet the additional guidelines of the program.

Legal rights workshop

Georgia Legal Services Program (GLSP) will sponsor a Free Legal Rights Workshop on Fri., Nov. 7 at The Lincoln County Senior Center, 160 May Avenue, Lincolnton. The workshop will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. Lunch will be provided.

Get legal help and learn about your rights on the following featured topics: elder abuse - nursing home and personal care home; public benefits - Social Security and SSI; and consumer - garnishment and foreclosure protection.

Prog. at Newberry

Newberry Missionary Baptist Church's Annual Men and Women Day will be held Sun., Oct. 19 during regular worship services (11:15 a.m.). Rev. Willie J. White is pastor.

Financial workshop

Solomon Pool Deliverance Ministries will have a financial workshop Oct. 24, beginning at 7:30 p.m. and Oct. 25 beginning at 6 p.m. with guest minister Fred Prophet of Augusta. The public is invited to attend. Rev. Peggy W. Zellars is pastor.

NAACP/TIA to meet

The NAACP/Twilight Improvement Association, Inc. will meet Oct. 13, 7:30 p.m. at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church.

Choir anniversary

The Senior Choir of Pleasant Grove C.M.E. Church will have its choir anniversary on Sat., Oct. 11 at 6 p.m.

Fund set up

A fund has been established at Farmers State Bank to aid the Beggs family.

The funds collected will help defray medical expenses associated with the cancer treatment and meet the needs of the Beggs family.

Contributions to the Beggs Fund may be made at the bank during regular business hours or by using the night depository. Donations may also be mailed to the bank at P.O. Box 99, Lincolnton, Georgia, 30817. Please remember to write " Lyndsie Beggs Fund" on the envelope.

Revival services

First Baptist Church Youth Ministry will have revival services Oct. 27 - 31 at 7:30 p.m. nightly.

Ministers will be: Daravious Cullars - Mon.; Rev. Tonita Cody - Tues.; Rev. Peggy Zellars - Wed.; Rev. Frankie Jones - Thurs.; Eric Butler - Fri. The public is invited.

County supper

A country cooking supper will be held at Fishing Creek Baptist Church on Sat., Oct. 18 from 6 - 8 p.m. Plates cost $7 for adults, $4 for children.

All proceeds will go to charity.

Secret Santa

With Christmas right around the corner, Huddle House is gearing up for another successful year of Secret Santa. You may begin dropping off your toys for children early this year. For every new, unwrapped toy valued at $25 or more, the child will also receive a free meal.

Homecoming, revival

Midway United Methodist Church will hold Homecoming/Revival services Oct. 26. All members, former members, former scholars at Midway School and former pastors of the church are invited.

Come on out for a great day of worship, reminiscing, food and fellowship.

Worship services begins at 11 a.m. with dinner on the grounds at 12:30 p.m.

Auxiliary unit to meet

The Ladies Auxiliary Unit 194 will hold their monthly meeting Thurs., Oct. 9, 7:30 p.m. at the post home. All members are encouraged to attend and new members are welcome.

Please remember to bring the following items for the Food Pantry: hot or cold cereal, saltine crackers, mustard or ketchup.

Male chorus to perform

Newberry Missionary Baptist Mass Choir will feature St. Anthony Baptist Church Male Chorus, Brooklyn, N.Y. on Sat., Nov. 8, 5 p.m. at First Assembly of God Church.

St. Anthony Baptist Church will be in charge of worship services at Newberry Missionary Baptist Church on Sun., Nov. 9 at 9:15 a.m.

Tickets are being sold by Newberry Mass Choir for $10 each. Prizes include 32" flat panel tv and $100 Wal-Mart gift card. The drawing will be held on Saturday night.

Vintage cars wanted

Everyone is encouraged to bring your old restored car or truck to the antique car show at Pioneer Day to be held Nov. 22.

Barbecue plate sale

The Lincoln County Middle and High School Band Boosters will have a barbecue plate sale fund-raiser on Fri., Oct. 10 from 11:30 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. at Buddy Bufford Concession Stand and from 2:30 - 6 p.m. in the LCHS cafeteria. Plates cost $6 each.

Executive meeting

The Lincoln County Food Pantry Executive Committee will meet at the Lincoln County Public Library Thurs., Oct. 16 at 1 p.m.

State missions prog.

The Women on Missions at New Work Baptist Church would like to invite the community to our State Missions Program on Sun., Oct. 12 at 6 p.m. The guest speaker will be Alice White, Southern Baptist Missionary to Savannah.

Revival services

Revival services will be held at McDuffie Place off Hwy. 43 in Raysville, Ga. Oct. 10 - 12 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Guest speaker will be Dr. Hamilton-Willingham of Jacksonville, Fla. Services are sponsored by Daphanie Kenlow.

Hallelujah for Health

The CSRA Partnership for Community Health and the Richmond County Medical Society Project Access are sponsoring the 11th Annual "Hallelujah for Health" Benefit Concert Thurs., Oct. 30, 7 p.m. at Paine College, Gilbert-Lambuth Chapel on Druid Park Ave.

Area choirs will entertain through song and praise. Admission is free.

The partnership has been instrumental in the development and/or operations of three clinics, who serve the residents of the CSRA and especially the under and uninsured. They also sponsor programs for youth, at risk adults and eldercare.

Hart to perform

Melanie Hart of Hart International Music Ministries will be in concert at First Assembly of God on Wed., Oct. 15 at 7 p.m. Melanie has a beautiful soprano voice and an exceptional talent for writing her own lyrics and music. She and her husband, Jim have ministered throughout North America and recently felt God's calling to return to the mission field of Tbilisi, Georgia (Russia).

There is no charge; however a love offering will be received. A nursery will be provided. For more information, call the church office at 359- 7237.

Booster club to hold spaghetti supper

The Lincoln County High School Academic Booster Club is sponsoring a spaghetti supper on Fri., Oct. 17 before the home football game. Tickets are $6. Please contact Gail Remsen (359-7398) or stop by the high school office for tickets.
