All over the state of Georgia fair season is well under way. The cool crisp air signifies the fall season and the smell of cotton candy, the laughter of children riding a ferris wheel and the sound of our favorite livestock generates the excitement of our area fairs. Fair season is well known throughout the United States because local county fairs were very important to the agricultural community. However as time has progress fairs have evolved but still keep their original mission of entertaining families and making sure we keep certain traditions alive.

The traditions of showing off the best preserves, jellies, jams, quilts, arts & crafts projects and livestock can be seen at the local fairs in our area. It is an opportunity for young and old alike to showcase the best county or state produced items for that year. Fairs across the state provide a wonderful backdrop to country life at its best. Hats off to our local 4-H and FFA members, civic associations and community leaders who make the local and state fairs what it is today.

You can visit the local fair in Elberton, Ga. on October 6 - 11, 2008 and the Ga. National Fair in Perry on October 2 - 12, 2008, Georgia-Carolina State Fair in Augusta on Oct 17 - 26, 2008. Please visit and enjoy these wonderful venues that will surely be good wholesome fun for family. In addition you can see the Lincoln Co. 4-H Show team members and their livestock projects on exhibit at these fair venues. Please go, have a good time and show you're your support.
