Also pictured (L-r) are: Breeland Brookshire, Kip Williams, Judge, and Chris Goldman The Lincoln Co. 4-H show team traveled to Lawrenceville, Ga. on September 19-20 to the Gwinnet County Fair Steer & Heifer Show which had over 109 steers and 60 heifers registered to participate.
The junior livestock show is the highlight for many people that attend this annual event. Many of the citizens of suburban Atlanta were not disappointed with the style and flare of the Lincoln Co. 4-H Show team participants and their livestock projects.
This year's steer show was truly special because Lincoln Co. Show team member C.J. Goldman and his steer Rellik walked away with the Grand Champion Steer award.
C.J. has been working with Rellik all summer long and the hard work has paid off by capturing the coveted Grand Champion Steer show award. It is not an easy job to win the entire steer show but with per- sistence and dedication C.J. and Rellik's dreams came true.
Ivie Aycock won first place in the Class 6 870-910 category. Rellick is a Maine Anjou bred calf and weighs 1030lbs from class 9.
Steer show judge Kipp Williams, Murray Co. Agricultural Education teacher and FFA advisor, raved about what a tremendous steer C.J. has and with the meat, muscling, and eye appeal they will be hard to beat in upcoming shows.
The second highlight of the Gwinnet Co. fair was also during the steer show. Class 6 870 - 910lbs had 15 steers entered in the class.
Lincoln County had four participants in this class. They were: Justin Ashmore, Ivie Aycock, Carson Goldman and Dalton Tankersley.
As judge Kipp Williams was placing the class he found himself at a crossroads while trying to place the top four young people and their perspective steers. He didn't know all of those young people were from the same county.
Lincoln County was making its presence felt and seen at the show with Ms. Ivie winning the dueling shootout with Dalton Tankersley taking second, Justin Ashmore third and Carson Goldman fourth.
Tanner Aycock won the showmanship class for fourth grade participants. Steer show results are as follows: Class 3 700 - 775 lbs. Sadie Partridge second place and Tanner Aycock fourth place.
Class 4 780 - 815 lbs. Sadie Partridge fifth place.
Class 5 825 - 865 lbs. Dalton Tankersley second place.
Class 6 870 - 910 lbs. Ivey Aycock first place, Dalton Tankersley second place, Justin Ashmore third place and Carson Goldman fourth place
Class 7 920 - 950 lbs. C.J. Goldman second place
Class 8 970 - 990 lbs. Hattie Collins fourth place
Class 9 1000 - 1030 lbs. C.J. Goldman first place, Justin Ashmore third place
Heifer Show participants were Ivie and Tanner Aycock. They both received fourth and fifth place ribbons in 795 - 860 lbs class.
Tanner Aycock did an outstanding job in winning the showmanship class for fourth grade participants.
