Power squadron participates in wounded soldier retreat
      Seventeen volunteers from the Thurmond Lake Sail & Power Squadron joined in a flotilla of boats down Thurmond Lake to the National Guard Training Site just south of Plum Branch, S.C. on Saturday, August 30th. The Training Site was the location of the "Wounded Soldiers Family Retreat" for the wounded members and families of the South Carolina National Guard.

      Ho! Ho! Ho! It's that time of year again! The 11th Annual Holidays in Olde Lincoln Towne Festival will be held on December 6, 2008 in Downtown Lincolnton. The festivities will begin at 1pm with the Holiday Parade beginning at 4:30pm.

      Mr. and Mrs. Jody Gibson are proud to announce the birth of their son, Russell Calton, born at Doctors Hospital on September 16, 2008 at 10:05 a.m. He weighed eight pounds, five ounces and was twenty and onehalf inches long. Maternal grandparents are Marie Poss of Lincolnton and Calton Poss of Rayle, Ga. Great-grandmother is Mrs. Ruby Walton of Lincolnton.

Goldman takes top honor at Gwinnet steer and heifer show
      The Lincoln Co. 4-H show team traveled to Lawrenceville, Ga. on September 19-20 to the Gwinnet County Fair Steer & Heifer Show which had over 109 steers and 60 heifers registered to participate. The junior livestock show is the highlight for many people that attend this annual event.

Allison graduates from basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood
      Kristy Allison, a 2008 graduate of Lincoln County High School, graduated from Army Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri on August 21, 2008. Kristy is the daughter of Greg and Lynn Allison. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry O. Martin, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. James Chatham.
