Seeing clearly
      TO THE EDITOR I would like to publicly thank Mr. Allen Walker, Dr. Randall Edmunds, and the Lincolnton Lions Club for their recent help. Due to their generosity, I have eyeglasses now and I'm able to see clearly! As many of you know, I was hospitalized in August with blood clots in my lungs and leg. Upon release from the hospital, I was unable to work for several weeks.

      Rising website design and hosting costs have forced The Lincoln Journal to go to a paid subscription module for its online edition, effective October 1. Dear Hearts & Gentle People
      I had a long telephone conversation yesterday with a friend of mine from Alabama. Sadly, she is in the middle of a nasty divorce and her husband who, I'm convinced, is evil, is trying to prove she is "crazy" so he can pretty much come out of the ordeal smelling like a rose and having more money than God.

      Before I read Deliverance or saw the movie, I heard James Dickey read from his novel at USC's Longstreet Theater in 1974. He cut a wide swath through Columbia, made enemies, and people liked to bash him. He made it easy.
