JAFABIAN GREEN LEAVES THE DEFENSE TRAILING FAR BEHIND He leads the Red Devils in rushing for the season with 129 total yards. The Lincoln County High School Red Devils played against the McCormick Chiefs on Thursday, September 4. This game was, just like the game against the Thomson Bulldogs, rescheduled from Friday due to weather concerns. Our Red Devils won the game 49-0, making the season record to two wins and no losses, not counting the win against Thomson in the scrimmage game.

Wilkes Goolsby recovered the kickoff on the 21-yard line and ran it to the 34-yard line. A handoff to A.G. Middlebrooks gained less than a yard. Quarterback Bo Reed passed the ball to Stacy McClendon for an impressive gain of 27 yards. The next play was an impressive 40-yard pass to Goolsby which put the ball ........................................................................ touchdown. Vance Tarver kicked the extra point attempt and scored, making the score seven to zero within two minutes of starting the game. In literary terms, that is called foreshadowing.

McCormick recovered the kickoff from Tarver on the 4-yard line. The ball was stopped on the 25-yard line. Tavious McGahee stopped a run after a two-yard gain. A short pass lost McCormick yardage on the next play. The Chiefs were stopped and punted to the Devils. The Devils began their drive on their own 49- yard line.

The drive began with McCormick overstepping the line too early, making the drive actually begin with ...................................................................... ...................................................................... Goolsby again for another 35-yard ............................................................................ yard line again. Franklin Sherman handed the ball off to Jafabian Green for the second touchdown of the game. Tarver's kick was blocked, and the score was 13-0 when Mc- Cormick received the kickoff. The ball was returned to the 23-yard line. From there, McCormick gained six yards before Marquise Parks and Daniel McAllister stopped a run. The quarterback was then sacked, ending the Chiefs' drive.

Goolsby recovered the twelveyard punt. Middlebrooks carried the ........................................................................ were inside the 25-yard line. Reed was sacked during the drive, putting the Devils in a tight spot - third down and 20 yards to go. Another incomplete pass led to a truly great play. Alex Ellis caught a 31-yard ............ .............. ........ .......... ............ ......putting the Devils near the goal line. Sherman gained one yard, and Middlebrooks gained four, scoring the touchdown. Tarver scored the extra point, landing the ball in the yard of a neighboring house. The score was 20-0 as the Devils kicked the ball to the Chiefs again.

The Devils stopped the Chiefs on the 15-yard line. McCormick used a shotgun formation to gain two yards before Parks could slow the drive.

The second quarter began with McCormick in a no-gain drive. The Chiefs punted to the Red Devils again, setting up the Devils' drive on the Chiefs' 39-yard line. Middlebrooks broke two tackles and made a 20-yard gain. Green gained nearly eight yards on the next play. A short pass put the Devils on the sevenyard line. A holding penalty put the ....................................................................The team gained 13 yards before the "meat wagon" players came in with one foot between the ball and the goal line. Middlebrooks gained the foot, scoring the touchdown. Tony Raiford, Garrett Matthews, and Chuck Byrne opened the hole for Middlebrooks to run through. The score was to 27-0 after Tarver's extra point kick went in.

McCormick's next drive was also short, with the Devils recovering a punt on the Chiefs' 46-yard line. McCormick gave the Devils 15 yards after a late hit, putting the ball on the 31-yard line. Middlebrooks ran the ball into the end zone past six Chiefs. This run, as well as another kick from Tarver, put the score at 34-0, where it stayed for the rest of the half.

The second half began with Rusty Scott tackling the ball carrier. McCormick fumbled the ball shortly thereafter. The referees said that the fumble was recovered by McCormick. The Red Devils took control of the ball not long after due to a fumble that McCormick failed to recover. Green carried the ball seven yards to put the ball on the four-yard line. The next play, he ran it in for a touchdown. Tarver kicked the ball in, making the score 41-0. The "mercy rule" was invoked, and the clock did not stop except for timeouts. McCormick failed to score on the next drive, and sophomore Jarvis ............ .............. ........ .......... .................... of the game. A 2-point conversion made the score 49-0 as the clock hit zero.

Several younger players, including Caleb James, J.P. Norman, and Devan Harrison, showed how bright future seasons will be during the later parts of this game.

This week's game will be Friday, Sept. 12, against Hephzibah starting at 7:30 p.m. Come out and support our team in the third installment of the Red Devil football season.
