Normans honored by children with 50th anniversary celebration

MR. AND MRS. GERALD NORMAN MR. AND MRS. GERALD NORMAN Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Norman were honored with a celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday afternoon, August 23, at the Woman's Club in Washington, Ga. The happy occasion was hosted by their children, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Lewis and Mr. Jerry Norman of Washington. Also attending were their grandsons, Caleb Free of Statesville, N.C. and Derek Free of Athens, Ga.

Mr. Norman of Lincoln County and Mrs. Norman, the former Lois Ann Garrard of Washington were married on March 16, 1958.

For the reception Mrs. Norman wore a three-piece aqua ensemble that included a long skirt, shell and jacket accented with small circles of glitter. She was given a corsage of a yellow rose. Mr. Norman was presented a matching boutonniere for the lapel of his blue jacket.

The guest register table decorated with a bud vase containing yellow lilies, blue delphinium and lavender stock and a clock presented to them by their family.

A beautiful floral arrangement was sent by Bo and Jane (Garrard) Griffin of Waycross (Mrs. Norman's niece) and a lovely plant was given by Jack and Angie Strother.

The food and beverage tables were covered with army-navy cloths. The food table held an arrangement of skyline roses, lavender Fuji mums, lavender stock, yellow alstromeria lilies, limonium, light blue delphinium, yellow enchantment lilies done in a metal jardiniere.

Guests enjoyed chicken salad in timbales, little smokies in barbecue sauce, sausage balls, crab meat mold with crackers, cheese straws, spinach dip with crackers, fruit and vegetable trays with dip, pecan pastries and pecan sandies made by Mary Ann Garrard (Mrs. Norman's cousin).

Tea and frozen punch were served in crystal and silver punch bowls.

The anniversary cake, a three-tiered white confection, was decorated with a cascade of gold, blue and lavender sugar roses. It was topped with a 50th anniversary year decoration.

Tables around the room were covered in white and were decorated with bud vases of yellow lilies and greenery. The mantels were flanked with springier fern and gypsophilia. Yellow and white satin bows adorned banisters entering the Woman's Club.

Around a hundred guests attended the celebration. Family members and friends from out of town included:
