Citizens voice concerns over BOE millage rate increase

Two public hearings were held Monday, September 8, to discuss the Lincoln County Board of Education's intention to increase property taxes 15.53 percent over the rollback millage rate. At its June 26 meeting, the board voted to fund a budget of $13,106,748 for FY 2009, which is expected to require a millage increase of 1.99 mills. More...

Digest shows 6.2-percent growth; tax bills should go out in October

As it now stands, Lincoln County residents should receive their tax bills sometime in October. The Lincoln County Tax Commissioner is preparing to send the tax digest to Atlanta for approval by the Georgia Department of Revenue. If everything is in order, the digest will receive conditional approval, and the tax bills will be printed and mailed in Macon. More...

Hannah Clark memorialized

A wreath was laid on Hannah Clark's gravesite, located at Elijah Clark State Park, to mark the anniversary of her death on August 28, 1827. Park prepares for pickin' and grinnin' at festival

The Seventh Annual "Elijah Clark Bluegrass Festival" will be held Friday, September 19, through Sunday, September 21, at Elijah Clark State Park. The Lincoln County High School Red Devils played against the McCormick Chiefs on Thursday, September 4. This game was, just like the game against the Thomson Bulldogs, rescheduled from Friday due to weather concerns.
