Jenita Phillips
Miss Jenita Phillips, 65, of Lyons, Georgia, entered into rest early Sunday morning, July 20, 2008, at her residence after an extended illness.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23 at Mt. Moriah Methodist Church with Revs. Russ New and Randall Gibbs officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Miss Phillips was a native and lifelong resident of Toombs County. She enjoyed gardening, cross-stitching and crocheting. She was known for making "good" peanut-brittle and divinity.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elex L. and Lula Mae Phillips; four brothers, S.E., Doy, Wilbur, and Alton Phillips.
Survivors include one sister, Ila Mae Harrell of Christiansburg, Va.; one brother, Earl Phillips and wife, Janis of Lincolnton; two nephews, Lewis Phillips and wife, Laney of Lincolnton and Lawrence Renfroe and wife, Dreamer of Christiansburg; one niece, Bonnie Pittman of Uvalda, Ga.; and several great-nieces and greatnephews.
Pallbearers were Lewis Phillips, Phillip Renfroe, Cliff Riner, Freddie Clarke, Hoke Clarke and Allen Dixon. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Renfroe, Lewis New, Pratt Perdue, Ben Sanders, Ben Smith, Tim Pittman, Johnny Williams and Josh Dasher.
Murchison Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
